This month we celebrate Respect Life Month, the Month of the Holy Rosary, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Mental Health Awareness Day. Pope Leo XIV urges the faithful to pray the Rosary daily in October for peace—let’s answer that call together!

Our parish is alive with faith and action. OCIA begins with 12 candidates preparing for the Sacraments at Easter, the Alpha Pilot continues, and so much more!

Rosary for Life Holy Hour

October 1 | 7pm, SJE

In place of our traditional 40-Hours Devotion, the Respect Life & Rosary Ministry will host a Rosary for Life Holy Hour every Wednesday in October at 7pm during Adoration. Join us for the first gathering on October 1st, as we lift in prayer all who struggle with infertility and women who have lost a child. Each week we will lift a different aspect of life in prayer:

• October 8, 7pm, SJE: Mental Health
• October 15, 7pm, SJE: Abortion
• October 22, 7pm, SJE: Aging and Assisted Suicide
• October 29, 7pm, SJE: Adoption

Movie Night

Respect Life Sunday

October 4/5 | All Sunday Masses

While our Respect Life and Month of the Holy Rosary activities began in mid-September, Sunday, October 5 is Respect Life Sunday. To mark this special day, our Respect Life ministers will share the USCCB reflection Life: Our Sign of Hope and lead the Prayer for Hope at all Sunday Masses. Join us in praying for a culture that supports life from conception until natural death.

Novena for Mental Health

October 10-18

Join us in prayer for those impacted by mental health challenges. Novena guides will be available in church this Sunday, attached to our electronic bulletin, or downloadable here. While the Novena may be prayed at any time, we invite you to unite with Catholics worldwide beginning October 10, National Mental Health Awareness Day, and concluding October 18, the Feast of St. Luke the Evangelist, patron saint of healthcare.

Fr. Dan's Installation Mass at Divine Mercy

Fr. Dan's Installation Mass at Divine Mercy Parish will be celebrated on Saturday, October 18 at 5pm at Sacred Heart Church (1077 Tower Road, Winnetka). Let’s keep our former pastor—along with Fr. Art, Fr. Paul, Fr. Louis and Dcn Jerry—in our prayers! If you plan to attend the Installation Mass, please note the parking lot is small, so carpooling is encouraged.

Annual Catholic Appeal: Together We Bring Hope

Thank you for your support!

This year’s theme for the Annual Catholic Appeal is Together we bring hope. It echoes the theme of the Holy Year Pilgrims of Hope. It also resonates with our efforts of renewal in the Archdiocese of Chicago. Contributions to the Appeal are an effective way to bring hope into our world, especially to those in need.

A portion of donations above our parish goal is returned to us and used for special parish projects. Thanks to past generosity, we've upgraded sound systems, security cameras and installed narthex screens. We'll soon begin restroom upgrades at both churches with proceeds from last year’s campaign!

This year’s rebate helps upgrade our playground, used year-round by both parish and school—let’s make it happen together!
