Second COVID-19 Dose Respiratory virus season isn’t over yet! Older adults are at higher risk for getting very sick from respiratory viruses like COVID-19. Everyone 65+ (and those with weakened immune systems) should receive a second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine 6 months after their first dose to stay protected from severe illness.

Contact your health care provider or visit MyTurn.ca.gov to schedule your vaccine appointment.

Flu and COVID-19 are contagious respiratory (lung) infections that can cause serious illness. Although flu and COVID-19 can circulate year-round, more people tend to get sick with these illnesses in the fall and winter.

Everyone 6 months+ should receive updated 2024/2025 flu and COVID-19 vaccines. People 65+ and those who are immunocompromised should receive a second dose of 2024–25 COVID-19 vaccine six months after their first dose.

Flu and COVID-19 vaccines are updated each year to provide the best protection against circulating variants. Making sure you and your family members are up to date on flu and COVID-19 vaccines is a safe and powerful way to help prevent severe illness and hospitalization. You can even get your flu and COVID-19 vaccines during the same visit.

Vaccination for flu and COVID-19 also reduces the risk of bird flu co-infection and lost time at work. For messages specifically for farmworkers at higest risk of bird flu, go to Farmworkers.

Contact a health care provider or schedule your vaccine appointments at MyTurn.ca.gov. You can also find vaccine appointments at Vaccines.gov or your local pharmacy.
