Lisa, a Temple resident, is 100% disabled and needed help getting her SNAP benefits in order. When Lisa called 2-1-1, she spoke to Samantha, letting her know that she didn't have any food in her home, and the refrigerator was not functioning properly. Samantha referred Lisa to the Area Agency on Aging and Helping Hands Ministry of Belton.
Samantha checked in with Lisa a week later. Lisa stated that Helping Hands was "beyond amazing, and they helped me so much!" In addition to helping Lisa get her SNAP benefits in order, Helping Hands was able to provide a new refrigerator. Helping Hands also set up a weekly food distribution for Lisa, where Lisa's friend will pick up and deliver a prepared box of groceries from Helping Hands.
Lisa said, "Helping Hands was able to take so much stress off my shoulders. I'm so grateful for the recommendation."
