Dear Archbishop Carroll Community,

In a positive effort to help us remain safe, Governor Wolf announced the devastating news this morning that all Pennsylvania Schools will be closed for the remainder of the school year. We will adhere to all intelligent coaching for the good of our community as we walk together during this part of our challenging journey.

In true Carroll fashion, I have already received many calls and emails from Carroll family members with some fantastic input and reminders.

Here's what is not cancelled:

- Excellence is not cancelled.   Our community remains engaged in virtual classrooms, advisories, clubs, live prayer services, Masses and activities. All of this allows our school to continue to deliver the extraordinary education our families have come to expect. We will continue to live up to our mission of excellence by redefining our thinking.

-Events are not cancelled.  We will continue to be “ wildly creative” as we explore our options for events. Important Events including but not limited to Junior Ring Mass and Graduation will be looked at with current safety restrictions in mind.  Our seniors will not be forgotten.

-Innovation and Learning is not cancelled.  Virtual meetings with students through Zoom including Game Club, Student Council, Band, and Best Buddies will continue. Archbishop Carroll will also continue to develop virtual activities, like Career Day and our competition with Archbishop Ryan.

- Service is not cancelled. Yesterday, Carroll’s Faith in Action class donated lunch and wrote letters to the nurses, doctors, and medical staff at Bryn Mawr Hospital. We will figure out ways to serve differently in our new environment.

- Stewardship is not cancelled.  Faith life is the heartbeat of Carroll. Lunchtime prayer services via Instagram live, weekly Mass every Saturday at 4:30 pm via Facebook live and Zoom meetings individually with each class will continue. Virtual Stations of the Cross will be offered on Good Friday at the recently dedicated Dominic L. Coyle ‘17 Memorial Garden. We will continue to serve our Lord in ways that He deserves.

-Guidance is not cancelled. Communication and guidance will continue to be at the forefront of our Carroll community. Teachers, staff, and administration are readily available to support our Archbishop Carroll students. Archbishop Carroll’s academic and student leaders will continue to share timely and encouraging video messages with our Carroll community.

Carroll family, we are fully prepared for this moment and we have the energy to beat this enemy as a team. My faith in this community has never been stronger. With God on our side all foes do not stand a chance!  Please spread this message of hope broadly to family and friends. Faith, hope and love are never cancelled or postponed.

God bless all of us.

Your faithful servant leader,
Francis E. Fox '77, President
A rainbow over
Archbishop Carroll, yesterday.
