Response to Immigration Enforcement
Dear Da Vinci Families and Friends,
In light of recent reports of increased immigration enforcement activity, we want to take a moment to reaffirm that our schools are safe, inclusive spaces where all students, regardless of immigration status, are welcomed, supported, and protected.
At Da Vinci Schools, we are deeply proud of our diverse community and stand firmly in support of every student and family. We remain committed to ensuring that our campuses are places where students can focus on learning, growth, and well-being without fear or uncertainty.
We want to remind our community of the following key legal protections and supports:
-
All children have the right to attend public school, regardless of immigration status (Plyler v. Doe, 1982).
-
Restricted Campus Access: Immigration enforcement agents are not allowed on campus without a valid judicial warrant or exigent circumstances, by state laws.
-
Student Information Protections: Student information is protected by law and will not be shared with immigration authorities unless required by a lawful court order.
If your child is experiencing fear, stress, or anxiety related to immigration concerns, please connect with your school’s counselor. Additional support and resources are available through the Da Vinci Schools Immigration Enforcement Preparedness Plan.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to your school site administrator. For additional information, please contact Erin Whalen, Assistant Superintendent of Student Services, at Ewhalen@davincischools.org.
Sincerely,
Dr. Matthew Wunder
CEO/Superintendent
