On December 26, 2019, a new
federal law was passed called
The Tobacco to 21 Act that raised the federal tobacco purchase age from 18 to 21 years old nationwide. The new federal law also requires tobacco and electronic cigarette retailers to verify the photo ID of anyone who appears under the age of 30 years old. The new law will be enforced by the Food and Drug Administration, FDA in the coming months.
