Dear valued partners and friends,
As this month comes to an end, we find ourselves reflecting on the essence of Cambodia and its growing potential as a destination. Our participation at the ITB Berlin last month only solidified what we've observed: there has been an increased interest in the country, particularly among slow travel enthusiasts. These discerning travellers are captivated by the notion of leisurely immersing themselves in diverse landscapes, and discovering concealed treasures along the way. And we know just how many possibilities there are for this in Cambodia!
Our tourism figures are even more encouraging: in 2023, Cambodia received 5.43 million tourism arrivals, nearly 140% more than in 2022 (2.27 million arrivals). The numbers continue to expand, as nearly 1 million travellers visited in just the first 2 months of 2024 (January to February). This presents a prime opportunity to harness the growing interest in Cambodian travel experiences.
On the other side of the spectrum, as our tourism industry grows, so must our responsibility toward the environment and the communities we work with. Cambodia's government has unveiled plans for a new high-speed train, which not only enhances the overall travel experience but also provides a more sustainable travel option. Simultaneously, our team at DTH Travel Cambodia regularly initiates CSR projects to address multiple ways in which we can preserve our natural landscapes and support our local communities. This month, we invite you to join us in one of our initiatives, our Refill Not Landfill program.
We present these updates, and introduce two exclusive hotel promotions for an idyllic island paradise escape, in this month’s newsletter.
We are very grateful for your continued support and our successful collaboration, and look forward to creating more exciting and meaningful adventures in Cambodia with you!
Tŏu’ aôy ban sŏk!
Yours,
Villy

Our Refill Not Landfill Program
|
|
Sustainability is a part of DTH Travel's DNA. This is a broad topic that can encompass many different factors, but for us it means being conscious of our capability to affect positive change as we work with local communities and in our environments. Our goal is to find as many opportunities as possible to do so, and invite our clients to be a part of the solution. This month, our team in Cambodia has put our focus on the use of plastic water bottles.
Statistics show that millions of visitors travel to Cambodia for an average of 6.8 days per trip, with each visitor consuming around 2 litres of water a day -- contributing enough plastic water bottles to fill multiple Olympic-sized pools! While plastic water bottles have been the most convenient way to hydrate, water refill stations have become more common in Cambodia. We've expanded on this initiative and partnered with hotels, restaurants, cafes, and other establishments to become designated Refill Not Landfill stations. These stations have agreed to offer clean drinking water, free of charge, so that our guests can easily refill their reusable water bottles as they travel around our destination.
As our clients and partners in travel, we enjoin you to encourage your guests to bring their own reusable water bottles as they journey through Cambodia. This is just one small step, but through this initiative, your guests can contribute to our goal of reducing consumption of single-use plastics, and leave a positive impact on our environment and the communities living in it.
Thank you very much for your support, and we look forward to working with you on this!
