My Siblings in Christ, 

I write to let you know about a death in our parish. Our beloved Barbara (Barbie) Whitman passed away as she was arriving at church on Christmas morning. A Vestry member, head of the Altar Guild, a member of the Choir who loved the music in our sanctuary, a staunch supporter of our Sunday School, founder of our Day at the Beach with Rosie’s Place, and so many other gifts, Barbara has made an indelible mark on St. Andrew’s - including raising the bar on how a church celebrates anyone’s 90th birthday! (See photos from February’s party and blessing below.) 

We will gather to celebrate her life and remarkable legacy at St. Andrew’s on Saturday, January 4th at 11 am with lunch and a lively reception to follow in the Parish Hall. All are welcome. You are invited to bring a story to share with her family, in writing or aloud during the reception. Please keep Barbara and her family in your prayers during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, Barbara and her family invite honorary gifts to be made in her name to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. 

May the beauty and light of this Christmas season illuminate your path ahead, soothe your grief or sadness and enhance your joy as we mark Barbara’s entrance into the glory of God’s blessed kingdom.
