University Area CDC & AdventHealth Partner to Restore Hope to Veterans

Thanks to our newly formed partnership with AdventHealth, more veterans in the University Area will soon have access to safe, stable housing and important health and wellness resources. The collaboration will strengthen our Rehab to Restore Hope initiative, a veteran housing program which transforms properties in the University Area into affordable, sustainable homes for veterans and their families.

77-year-old veteran, Glenn Johnson, is the proud resident of a newly renovated Rehab to Restore Hope duplex — a place he can truly call home. A major part of community revitalization is restoring hope and stability for those who’ve served and for our neighbors in need.

“Treat people the way you want to be treated and if you fall down, get up.”, said Glenn.

Leaders from University Area CDC, AdventHealth and local government, including delegates from the offices of Representative Susan Valdés, Representative Fentrice Driskell, and Senator Darryl Rouson joined veteran residents for a tour of the current Rehab to Restore Hope housing units, highlighting how access to stable housing directly influences physical and emotional health.

Together, University Area CDC and AdventHealth are working toward a shared vision of healthier, more connected communities by addressing the social factors that influence health outcomes.
