Churches take first steps in restructuring and creating Collaborative Hubs

As the BWC continues its focus on vitality, discipleship, and empowering each person and church to live their God-called life, we wanted to share a brief summary on the progress of the restructuring process.

Enthusiasm about the creation of the Hubs and Connecting Churches is growing as more congregations fill out their Collaborative Hub questionnaires, which were sent out in June. It is important to note that the survey should be completed as a group, by the church leadership teams responsible for mission and ministry. The Hub questionnaires are expected to be completed no later than Sept. 15. A list of the new Collaborative Hubs is expected to be published in January 2025.

Pastors are also filling out the Clergy Covenant Group Survey, which is due Thursday, Aug. 15. These surveys were sent out in early July to all those appointed to local churches and those serving beyond the local church.

For those who have questions, or need a refresher on the restructuring, a report, which includes a timeline of the process, is available online, along with an FAQ. If you have any further questions about the restructuring process or the questionnaires, please contact Melissa Lauber.

We also want to celebrate the eight churches that volunteered to pilot the new Church Vitality and Progress reflection process. These churches, who will provide feedback from September through January, will help shape the assessment tools that will be used in 2025 to share information about a congregation’s vitality. The pilot group is sharing insights on keeping the church’s focus on developing disciples, helping leaders to record progress and set intentions, and supporting the conference-wide vision of growing in vitality. If you are interested in being a part of the pilot program, please sign up by August 15.

Vitality is the pursuit of the fullness of God. This summer, we hope you claim the spirit of renewal, set aside time for your soul to speak, and claim the joy and hope that leads us each to abundant life.
