On Sunday, June 7th we held Round 1 of our 2026 Chapter Championship presented by Vessel at the Rancho Bernardo Inn. There were 37 golfers in 4 flights that rolled out for an 8:00am shotgun start. We had beautiful, perfect weather for golf! Sunshine and a nice breeze The golf course was in good tournament shape and was very challenging, especially those bunkers!
There was a lot of excitement in the air before the round started and an impressive day of scoring on Day 1. At check-in, players received snacks and a very nice golf towel compliments of Vessel Golf, our presenting sponsor.
Welcome new member Stephanie Bailey! Kudos to her for playing in her first event and it being the Chapter Championship. It was also great to see other players that we hope to see more often - Melissa Johnson, Barb Savaglio, Trish Castner and Anh-Chi Furey.
Thank you to volunteers for player check-in: Chris Shorkey, Cretia Hadley, and new member Barbara Ford Ripley, who did not play today.
Round 1 also happens to be our June ACES event of the month. Congratulations to our Gross ACE, Bethany Selan (77) and our Net ACE, Anh-Chi Furey (Net 65). Both have qualified to play in our ACE of ACES invitational at Singing Hills Golf Resort in November.
Round 1 Closest to the Pin results - it's a mystery! We will announce the winners at Round 2 on June 14th. Hint: there were some very close shots on holes #2 and #11.
