This week's survey

(These survey questions are sent in by our readers. Please spend a minute to give your answer to this week's survey as one or possibly more of your industry peers thinks this question is important and wishes to see your point of view as well as others in the industry.)
New products and services launched at PacPrint 2017 -
See our video presentations by some of the important wide format suppliers.
More to follow as we receive approvals.

David Crowther's Colour Graphic Services had a booth at PacPrint 2017 where he invited printers to bring along a provided test form that they had printed where David Crowther will measure it using the latest ISO 13655 compatible Techkon spectrophotometers. The data is then sent into PrintSpec software. Within seconds, the software will produce a full report on any colour management issues present and possible remedies.

Greg Stone of Roland DG takes us around the Roland DG booth. Greg shows off the latest CAMM1 GR Pro series cutters; VersaStudion BN20; VersaUV LEF Series;
Metaza MPX95 engraver; The Roland Mobile Imagination Centre and the SolJet EJ-640.

On the Sign Essentials stand at PacPrint 2017, CEO, Sean Strange demonstrates the motor driven Lamidesk, an application table that has proven very popular with Australian sign and print people.
Sign Essentials is also the exclusive agents for the Impact CNC range of lasers. On show at PacPrint 2017 was the Lightning model and again a demonstration was given.
The latest product in the growing range of product from this company is the Chilli Heat Press.

Brad Creighton introduces us to several new products that were on display at PacPrint 2017, including the JFX200 2531 an upscaled version of the popular JFX200 range with an increased bed size of 2.5 x 3.1 metre.
Then came the UJF-7151plus industrial LED UV printer.
Also the UJF-6042 MkII and the CJV 150-75 cutter and the JV300-160.
Brad was keen to state that Mimaki had done some price cutting on some of the units making them considerably cheaper without compromising on quality.

Starleaton doubled in size late last year with the acquisition of DES - their booth was divided into some of the sectors which the company now sells to and our 5 videos represent: Colour Management; Fine Art and Photography; Media (Oppgoga); EFI Printers; Finishing

This video includes an edited version of Michael Boyle's (Vice President of HP's Graphic Solutions Business (GSB) Asia Pacific/Japan) presentation at the HP Press Conference at PacPrint 2017 in Melbourne during May 2017 restricted to the part pertaining to HP's Latex ink products.
We then move onto HP's Craig Hardman (South Pacific Country Manager, Large Format Design, Graphic Solutions Business) presentation of the PageWide XL 8000 series printer which was shown to be producing A1 prints at an amazing speed.
Lastly Jeremy Brew, an HP Application Specialist in HP's Large Format Business, shows off the company's latest product launches, the Designjet 315 printer/cutter and the Latex 3200 printer.
There are some audio problems with this video for which we apologise.

Stephen Cumming from Jetmark introduce to the lastest models from Indian company. ColorJet. Models highlighted include the Verve 8 head model; Polo Turbo; AuraJet; Bubble-Free Mouse; Bubble-Free Pro and the JWei cutting table.

Wilenco presented their well known Roll Over application table at PacPrint 2017 and they brought over Svein Martinsen from the Roll Over factory to add value to their presentation.
Last week's survey results on..
PacPrint 2017 - did you get there? If so, what were your impressions?

  • Just the right size to get around. Impressive effort by the exhibitors show casing their possibilities. I didn't go into some stands as it wasn't obvious what they were offering - maybe some explanatory signs needed - it is not always possible to dive into the PacPrint Guidebook buried in the guff bag.
  • Nope. Such a shame, I would have loved to have gone. It'd make so much more sense to hold it on at least one weekend day as well as during the week. Those of us who have to travel can't always just up-and-go; clients don't appreciate that :

  • I went, not sure why tho. Same stands, a few new printers here and there. Nothing really stood out. Noticed some of the bigger players are not attending the show in their own backyard, which makes you wonder why?
  • Great show, well done to all concerned. However not sure mixing some signage sectors like LED/Neon, Braille, routing, etc with commercial printing is the right mix though - they are worlds apart and need separate shows!!!
  • Yes, good show, particularly like the HP/Curries booth and Starleaton - those two stood out for me. Learnt a lot about new products. Pity we are not in the market for some of the new printers.
