Dear Shir Chadash Community,
Based on the positive in-building service experience of congregants over the High Holydays and updated guidance from our Health Committee, we are pleased to announce the reopening of Shir Chadash on Shabbat mornings beginning this Shabbat, October 17th.
You will need to register for services in advance each week by either calling the synagogue office at (504) 889-1144 or by completing the online registration form HERE. Registration is due by 12 pm (noon) each Thursday, and you will receive an email confirmation by 12 pm (noon) on Friday.
Please do not "show up" for services without registering. We will not be able to admit you. To ensure the health and safety of congregants and staff, no more than 36 people will be allowed in the building at one time.
There are no other specific requirements for attendance at services. Children under age 13 may attend services provided they can stay seated with their families for the duration of services. Those who are age 65 or older or who are otherwise at risk for developing more severe disease from COVID-19 are encouraged to take advantage of our online services from the safety and comfort of home. However, you are welcome to register to attend services if you would like to do so.
Building Arrival and Seating
You will be asked to have a face mask in place and review a COVID-19 Symptom Checklist on arrival. Your temperature will be checked, and you will be asked to sanitize your hands before entering the building. Services will be held in the Sanctuary. Please sit in one of the designated seats along with the members of your household and remain there throughout services.
Please bring your own Siddur (prayer book), kippah and tallit to services. If you do not have them, they will be provided. Bathrooms will be available for use, but the water fountains will not. Sadly, we are not able to offer a Kiddush lunch at this time either. You may bring your own bottle of water to services; however, please do not bring food.
Services will begin at 10:00 am with Shacharit, followed by the Torah service, a short d’var Torah from Rabbi Silver, and Musaf. Services will last no more than two hours. Aliyot will be taken from inside the Sanctuary.
Services will also be broadcast live HERE. The link can also be found on our homepage at www.shirchadash.org. For your convenience, the link can be accessed before Shabbat begins and then be left open through Shabbat.
We are delighted to resume our Shabbat morning services and look forward to seeing you soon!
