Resurrection Community Announcements | |
From the Principal’s Desk
Hi RES Families,
This past weekend’s Open House was a powerful reminder of all that makes Resurrection so special. Parent and student participation exceeded our goals, and the energy throughout our halls was electric — the buzz around the fresh face of RES has truly reached our community. From newly renovated spaces to the warmth of our student ambassadors and faculty, Resurrection shone brightly as a place where young women are educated well, seen, supported, and celebrated.
We would love for our current parents to experience this same joy and pride in seeing what your daughters are part of every day. The transformation of our building reflects the transformation happening within our classrooms and community. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to Dr. P., Mr. Joe Lascon, or me — we would be delighted to personally share the beauty, spirit, and innovation that make Resurrection a truly stunning academic home for your daughters.
As we move through November, I am deeply grateful for the creativity, generosity, and faith that continue to shape our school — from the laughter of Halloween celebrations to the compassion of our RESpunzel Hair Donation Drive and the reverence of our upcoming Veterans Day observance. Together, we embody what it means to live with purpose and lead with heart.
With gratitude and pride,
Dr. Patricia Caine

RESpunzel Hair Donation Drive – November 10
On Monday, November 10, NHS will once again host RESpunzel in partnership with Penthouse Salon to benefit Children With Hair Loss.
Flyers with a QR code to sign up are posted throughout the school.
We hope your daughter will consider donating her hair or helping to spread the word—every contribution makes a difference!
Thank you for helping us continue to grow together in faith, service, and community. The energy and enthusiasm our students bring to these events make Resurrection such a special place to learn, lead, and belong.

Veteran’s Day Remembrance
In honor of the brave men and women who have served our country and in remembrance of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, RES will observe Veteran’s Day on Friday, November 7. There will be no school for the girls.
We invite our Bandit community to take a moment that day to reflect, pray, and offer gratitude for all who have served.

Congratulations, Class of 2026!
The November 1 college application deadline has officially passed, and we couldn’t be prouder of our seniors. Over 80 of our 92 students have submitted college applications - an incredible milestone that reflects months of hard work, reflection, and dedication. Acceptances are already beginning to roll in, and we’re thrilled to celebrate the journeys ahead!
To our parents and guardians - thank you for the countless ways you’ve supported your student through this process. From proofreading essays to managing deadlines and cheering from the sidelines, your encouragement truly makes all the difference.

FAFSA: The Next Big Step
With a majority of applications submitted, our focus now shifts to financial aid. Completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) early is essential, as financial aid is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. The sooner the form is submitted, the greater the access to potential funding.
A few key reminders for families:
- The FAFSA itself does not indicate how much aid you’ll receive - each college provides its own financial aid offer once your FAFSA is processed.
- Award amounts vary by institution and depend on several factors, including cost of attendance and available funding.
- Students attending an out-of-state college will not qualify for Illinois state-based aid.
- Families can list up to 20 schools on the FAFSA and update their list later if college plans change.

Upcoming Deadlines
While the November 1 deadline was one of the biggest of the fall, there are still important dates ahead:
- December 1 - 15: Many schools offer additional priority or scholarship deadlines.
- January 1 - 15: Most colleges’ Regular Decision deadlines fall within this window. Students who are still finalizing essays or expanding their college lists should plan accordingly.
- Rolling Admission Schools: Continue accepting applications throughout winter and spring - seniors are encouraged to keep applying as needed.

What’s Next for Seniors
Now that the first major wave of applications has been submitted, students should:
- Watch for confirmation emails and college portal invitations.
- Regularly check portals for missing materials or updates.
- Continue applying for scholarships through Scoir, BigFuture, and our Schoology scholarship folder.
- Keep grades strong - midyear transcripts will be sent in January and can impact admission and scholarship opportunities.

Looking Ahead: Junior Meetings Begin This Month
Beginning in November, I will start meeting individually with members of the Class of 2027 to begin the early stages of postsecondary planning. These one-on-one meetings will help students explore their interests, reflect on potential majors or career paths, and learn more about college and career readiness milestones that will take place throughout the year. Parents will receive updates and opportunities for involvement as this process unfolds.

Celebrating and Looking Ahead
We’re so proud of the Class of 2026 for their ambition, persistence, and heart. The coming months will bring exciting updates as financial aid packages and college decisions begin to arrive. Our Postsecondary Counseling Office (room 211) remains here to support students and families every step of the way!

Future Bandit Softball Hitting Camp
Resurrection College Prep will host its Future Bandit Softball Hitting Camp on Saturday, November 23! Girls in 5th–6th grade will train from 8:15–9:45 a.m., and 7th–8th graders from 10:00–11:45 a.m. Led by Resurrection’s coaching staff, participants will take part in hands-on instruction, drills, and hitting techniques to improve their swing and confidence at the plate. It’s a great way for future Bandits to experience the energy and teamwork of Resurrection softball!

Shadow Days at Resurrection
Encourage your friends, family, and neighbors to see what Resurrection is all about! Shadow Days give 8th grade girls the opportunity to spend a day with a current student, sit in on classes, meet teachers, and experience life as a Bandit. Shadow Days are now open for registration. Help us spread the word and invite future Bandits to join us on campus!
