Greetings!

The readings for the 6th Sunday in Ordinary Time invite us to reflect on the gift of choice. God gives us freedom—not to burden us, but to lead us toward life. His commandments are loving guides that show us the way to what is good and life‑giving.

In the Gospel, Jesus teaches that faith is more than outward obedience—it is a matter of the heart, not just following laws. He fulfills the law by calling us to live with honesty, purity, forgiveness, and truth. True faith shapes our thoughts, our words, and our relationships. Jesus reminds us that anger and lust begin within and can cause real harm, urging us instead toward peace, self‑control, and mercy. A life faithful to God flows from a heart transformed by love.

St. Paul reminds us that God’s wisdom is different from the world’s. Through the Holy Spirit, we are given insight into the blessings God has prepared for those who love Him—blessings that lead to lasting joy and peace.

As we follow Christ, we are invited to choose love each day. God’s law is not just a set of rules, but a path to deeper freedom, stronger relationships, and a life lived fully with Him.

Welcome to the family of God, Elise. We celebrate you, we’re praying for you, and we thank God for the beautiful gift of your life.

Join our 2026 Lenten Small Group

It's not too late!!

Here is feedback shared by a parishioner who has participated in a previous Lenten Small Group—reflections that highlight the meaning, community, and spiritual renewal these gatherings inspire.

“This is the best program for Lent. Thank you for choosing it. It was well put together and not too long to do each day. It was a great way to meet other people in the parish.”

As always, you are invited to participate in a variety of practices designed to help us grow closer to God as we prepare our hearts for Easter.

  • Ash Wednesday – February 18, 2026, Masses at Noon and 7 p.m.
  • Thursday Mass, Stations, & Soup Suppers
  • February 26, 2026, at 6 p.m. sponsored by St. Vincent de Paul

In this reflective season of Lent, let us turn our hearts toward the wisdom of Pope Francis. “During this Lent, then, brothers and sisters, let us all ask the Lord: “Fac cor nostrum secundum cor tuum”: Make our hearts like yours (Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus). In this way we will receive a heart which is firm and merciful, attentive and generous, a heart which is not closed, indifferent or prey to the globalization of indifference.”

A Different Kind of Fast: A Spiritual Proposal

Fast from hurting words and say kind words

Fast from sadness and be filled with gratitude

Fast from anger and be filled with patience

Fast from pessimism and be filled with hope

Fast from worries and have trust in God

Fast from complaints and contemplate simplicity

Fast from pressures and be prayerful

Fast from bitterness and fill your hearts with joy

Fast from selfishness and be compassionate to others

Fast from grudges and be reconciled

Fast from words and be silent so you can listen

We are looking for "Guardian Angels" to help support

teens who are hoping to attend the retreat.

We are happy to announce that our 7th-12th graders will have the opportunity to experience our first overnight retreat since before Covid! It's coming up next month, March 6th-8th. The true cost is about $200 per teen, and we are asking them to pay $120 to keep it as accessible as possible. We don't want cost to be a barrier to entry, and are looking for "Guardian Angels" to help us pay for the retreat and perhaps sponsor a teen or two.

Looking for a joyful way to share your time, talents, and treasure?

We’d love to welcome you to our volunteer team! We’re seeking friendly faces to help at one Mass, one weekend a month.

Our volunteers brew coffee, set up the donut area, and help create a warm, welcoming space where parishioners can gather and connect. If you’re a regular at the 8:30am or 11:00am Mass, this is a wonderful way to serve the community and meet new people.

Please contact Irene Jones at ijones@rcparish.org.

Come join our amazing group of volunteers—we’d be thrilled to have you!

Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers and parishioners

who visited the Eucharistic Miracles Exhibit!

We were blessed to welcome more than 100 guests—from our own Resurrection community and from as far as Banks, Estacada, and Salem! And this number doesn’t even include the students from our school, Life Kids, Edge, or Life Teen, who also experienced the exhibit throughout the week.

Your enthusiasm, your reverence, and your desire to grow in love for the Real Presence made this event truly special. We are especially grateful to the volunteers whose time, dedication, and joyful service made it all possible.

A heartfelt thank‑you as well to the Knights of Columbus and our Eucharistic Adoration Ministry, whose generous service was instrumental in the setup and takedown of the exhibit. Your dedication, strength, and willing hearts helped ensure that our parish and visitors could experience these Eucharistic miracles with reverence and ease. We are deeply grateful for all you do for our community.

For anyone who was unable to attend—or for those who would like more time to explore the individual miracles or the video on Blessed Carlo Acutis—we’ve gathered some excellent resources to deepen your faith and to share with family and friends:

Ministry Information:

Life and Dignity of the Human Person Prayer

God of all life, Help us to appreciate the great gift that is human life formed in your image, a reflection of your holiness. Help us to recognize you in all whom you have created: children not yet born, families affected by poverty and war, people of different abilities, people from other lands, and all who are victims of hatred and racism. Help us to bear witness to the dignity of all whom you have created, regardless of stage of life, or wealth, or ability, or color, or creed, for every person is fully equal in your loving eyes. Share with us your holy knowledge that we are all your children, each bestowed with inherent dignity. May your justice reign forever! Amen.

As our community grows, so does our mission: to ensure that every family who desires a Catholic education for their children can receive one—regardless of financial circumstances. Your generosity makes this possible.

There are two meaningful ways to give:

• School Support – Your gift directly extends tuition assistance, opening our doors wider to families in need.

• Endowment Fund – Contribute to our new endowment, blessed with matching gifts of up to $65,000, helping secure the future of Catholic education for generations to come.

Other Archdiocese Events:

Sometimes it is difficult to be told what to do. Our independent natures balk, and we question, “Why do I have to do this or don’t do that?” In today’s Gospel, Jesus isn’t just enumerating what we should and shouldn’t do. He is inviting us into a deeper understanding and relationship with him, one that extends beyond external adherence to the rules and legalese.

During Lent, we abstain from meat on Fridays. Why? Because this is what the Church dictates? Is it just another example of the hoops we jump through as Catholics? Not even close. It’s much more beautiful. Foregoing steak on Friday is on every small way we can deny ourselves and experience the mortification Christ felt on the cross. It’s an opportunity to more fully understand Jesus’ sacrifice and appreciate his suffering on our behalf. It’s so much more than “because the Church says so."

Lent is approaching. It is a time for prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Let us prepare for this holy season by spending a few extra minutes a day in prayer, thinking of ways we can deny ourselves to better identify with the suffering Christ, and provide support to the Church’s ministries and programs, by making a gift to the Archbishop’s Catholic Appeal.

Opportunities to Contribute:

QCD

A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) allows individuals who meet the age requirements old or older to donate up to one or more charities directly from a taxable IRA instead of taking their required minimum distributions.

RMD

Required minimum distributions (RMDs) are the minimum amounts you must withdraw from your retirement accounts each year. You generally must start taking withdrawals from your traditional IRA, SEP IRA, SIMPLE IRA, and retirement plan accounts when you meet the age requirements. Changes in deduction rules and limitations will impact how much you can deduct for donations.

Meeting the age requirements, you may qualify to take annual distributions from your retirement account to make tax free donations to charities of your choice.

Resurrection Church is a qualified public charity 501(c)(3) and can receive your QCD.

Contact your financial advisor for updated and relevant tax advise.
