Greetings!
At this first week of Lent, we enter a season of renewal—a sacred time to turn away from what draws us from God and to begin again in trust and prayer.
In Eden, Adam and Eve failed the test of trust, choosing their own judgment over God’s goodness. In the desert, Jesus faced temptation and remained faithful. Where Adam’s disobedience brought sin and death, Christ’s obedience brings grace and new life. His victory reminds us that temptation does not have the final word.
Lent invites us to face our own desires for comfort, security, and control. Through prayer, fasting, and the offering of our time, talent, and treasure, we learn to rely more deeply on God—placing our gifts in His hands, trusting His Word, and resisting false promises. Though sin brings separation, Jesus restores us, offering forgiveness, hope, and the promise of new life.

Starting Next Week
We welcome you to Friday Mass at 8:30am for Lent
Attending a daily Mass during Lent deepens our spiritual life, strengthens our connection to the Eucharist, and offers the daily grace we need to resist temptation. This sacred rhythm transforms the 40 days of Lent into a season of intentional prayer and reflection. By coming together in worship, we open our hearts more fully to God’s will and grow in union with Christ—the true purpose of the Lenten journey.

Join us for our first Stations of the Cross and Soup Supper
on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
We will begin in the quiet reverence of the church, walking with Christ through the Stations of the Cross as we enter more deeply into the mystery of His suffering, compassion, and love. Afterward, we will gather in Rossman Hall to share a simple soup supper with fellow parishioners. This evening is lovingly supported by St. Vincent de Paul.
All are warmly welcomed to enter into prayer, reflection, and fellowship as we journey together through this sacred season. May this gathering help enrich your 40‑day pilgrimage, draw your heart closer to Christ, and open your soul to the grace and renewal God desires for you during Lent.

Join our 2026 Lenten Small Group
Last Chance to join!
Here is feedback shared by a parishioner who has participated in a previous Lenten Small Group—reflections that highlight the meaning, community, and spiritual renewal these gatherings inspire.
“This is the best program for Lent. Thank you for choosing it. It was well put together and not too long to do each day. It was a great way to meet other people in the parish.”
As always, you are invited to participate in a variety of practices designed to help us grow closer to God as we prepare our hearts for Easter.

In this reflective season of Lent, let us turn our hearts toward the wisdom of Pope Francis. “During this Lent, then, brothers and sisters, let us all ask the Lord: “Fac cor nostrum secundum cor tuum”: Make our hearts like yours (Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus). In this way we will receive a heart which is firm and merciful, attentive and generous, a heart which is not closed, indifferent or prey to the globalization of indifference.”
A Different Kind of Fast: A Spiritual Proposal
Fast from hurting words and say kind words
Fast from sadness and be filled with gratitude
Fast from anger and be filled with patience
Fast from pessimism and be filled with hope
Fast from worries and have trust in God
Fast from complaints and contemplate simplicity
Fast from pressures and be prayerful
Fast from bitterness and fill your hearts with joy
Fast from selfishness and be compassionate to others
Fast from grudges and be reconciled
Fast from words and be silent so you can listen

Looking for a joyful way to share your time, talents, and treasure?
We’d love to welcome you to our volunteer team! We’re seeking friendly faces to help at one Mass, one weekend a month.
Our volunteers brew coffee, set up the donut area, and help create a warm, welcoming space where parishioners can gather and connect. If you’re a regular at the 8:30am or 11:00am Mass, this is a wonderful way to serve the community and meet new people.
Please contact Irene Jones at ijones@rcparish.org.
Come join our amazing group of volunteers—we’d be thrilled to have you!

We are looking for "Guardian Angels" to help support
teens who are hoping to attend the retreat.
We are happy to announce that our 7th-12th graders will have the opportunity to experience our first overnight retreat since before Covid! It's coming up next month, March 6th-8th. The true cost is about $200 per teen, and we are asking them to pay $120 to keep it as accessible as possible. We don't want cost to be a barrier to entry, and are looking for "Guardian Angels" to help us pay for the retreat and perhaps sponsor a teen or two.

Prayer for the Poor and Vulnerable
God of Justice, open our eyes to see you in the face of the poor. Open our ears to hear you in the cries of the exploited. Open our mouths to defend you in the public squares as well as in private deeds. Remind us that what we do to the least ones, we do to you. Amen.

QCD
A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) allows individuals who meet the age requirements old or older to donate up to one or more charities directly from a taxable IRA instead of taking their required minimum distributions.
RMD
Required minimum distributions (RMDs) are the minimum amounts you must withdraw from your retirement accounts each year. You generally must start taking withdrawals from your traditional IRA, SEP IRA, SIMPLE IRA, and retirement plan accounts when you meet the age requirements. Changes in deduction rules and limitations will impact how much you can deduct for donations.
Meeting the age requirements, you may qualify to take annual distributions from your retirement account to make tax free donations to charities of your choice.
Resurrection Church is a qualified public charity 501(c)(3) and can receive your QCD.
Contact your financial advisor for updated and relevant tax advise.
Will, Living Trust & Estate Planning
Include Resurrection Catholic Parish or School in your will, trust or estate planning. Your gift – no matter how big or small – ensures our church, school, or school endowment fund can continue all of the incredible work we do, and you will be making an impact in the lives of others for many years to come.
We are deeply grateful for your consideration in supporting
Resurrection Catholic Church and Resurrection Catholic Parish School
with your generous donations. Thank you for keeping us in your hearts.
