Greetings!

The 11th Sunday in Ordinary Time draws us back to the simple, stunning truth at the center of our faith: God loves first, God forgives freely, and God sends us out to share what we have received.

God chooses His people not because they are perfect, but because He is merciful. He rescues, restores, and invites them into a covenant of love. Jesus fulfills this promise by giving His life while we were still sinners, proving that no one is beyond the reach of grace.

This love cannot be earned. It is pure gift. It lifts the fallen, heals the wounded, and makes all things new. And once we receive it, Jesus sends us, just as He sent the first disciples, to heal, to serve, and to carry His compassion into a world longing for hope.

Obedience, then, is not about rules but relationship with Him. It is the daily choice to walk with the God who walks with us, to trust His ways, and to let His love shape our lives.

This Sunday reminds us: God saves, God forgives, and God calls us to be His light. Loved by Him, we are sent to love others.

Parish News & Events:

With gratitude to God, our parish joyfully celebrates the 25th Anniversary of Fr. Bill’s Ordination to the Priesthood.

For twenty-five years, Fr. Bill has faithfully served Christ and His Church with prayer, leadership, compassion, and dedication to each parish family he was a part of. We are deeply grateful for the many ways he has inspired us, strengthened our faith, and walked alongside us, and we look forward with joy to the years ahead

All parishioners are invited to send Fr. Bill a personal note of appreciation, a favorite memory, photos, or words of encouragement. Your messages will reach Fr. Bill directly and will be collected and presented to him as part of this special anniversary celebration.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23

Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus traces back to early Christianity but came to prominence through the visions of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, a 17th-century French nun. Between 1673 and 1675, Jesus revealed His Heart to her as a powerful symbol of His boundless love and mercy, inviting humanity to return that love through prayer and devotion.

The Sacred Heart represents Christ’s deep, redemptive love for the world, His suffering, compassion, and desire to draw all people closer to Him. Over time, the Church strongly encouraged this devotion. In 1856, Blessed Pope Pius IX established the Feast of the Sacred Heart for the universal Church, and later popes, including Leo XIII, Pius XII, and St. John Paul II, continued to promote it as a path to experiencing God’s love more fully.

Through honoring the Sacred Heart, the faithful are invited to reflect on the depth of Jesus’ love and respond with trust, devotion, and a renewed commitment to live in His love.

O most holy Heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing, I adore you, I love you,

and with a lively sorrow for my sins, I offer you this poor heart of mine.

Make me humble, patient, pure, and wholly obedient to your will.

Grant, Good Jesus, that I may live in you and for you.

Protect me in the midst of danger; comfort me in my afflictions;

give me health of body, assistance in my temporal needs,

your blessing on all that I do, and the grace of a holy death.

Amen.

Women's Bible Study

This past Wednesday, the Women’s Bible Study group gathered at The Grotto to celebrate the close of their spring session. Surrounded by its peaceful beauty, it was the perfect place to reflect, renew, and be inspired, an uplifting way to conclude the season together.

Congratulations to all our students, teachers, and parents on making it to the end of the school year! This milestone reflects months of hard work, perseverance, encouragement, and growth.

To our students, well done for your effort and accomplishments. To our teachers, thank you for your dedication, care, and commitment each day. And to our parents, thank you for your support, partnership, and encouragement throughout the year. Wishing everyone a joyful, restful, and well-deserved summer!

Preprinted Envelopes

If you are still receiving donation envelopes but no longer need them, or if you now give by check or through WeShare, we would be very grateful if you would let us know so we can discontinue sending them. Doing so helps our parish be good stewards of our resources while still keeping an accurate record of your generous support. Thank you for your kindness and for all you do for our church community. If you would like to stop receiving envelopes, please email Sue Johnson by clicking the link below or sending an email to sjohnson@rcparish.org.

Hand in Hand Funding Requests

Attention Ministries!

As we prepare for the upcoming fiscal year (July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027), we are excited to continue supporting charitable initiatives and ministry efforts through the Hand in Hand Fund. As a Stewardship Parish, Offertory Giving remains the primary way parishioners contribute to the mission and good works of our community.

We invite all parish ministries to submit funding requests for charitable projects or programs planned for the upcoming year. These requests will help us allocate a portion of Offertory donations to support your important work.

To apply for funding:

  • Please complete a Hand in Hand Fund Request Form for each project or program.
  • Clearly state the amount requested and provide a brief description of how the funds will be used.
  • Submit your completed form(s) to the parish office no later than June 30, 2026.

All submissions will be reviewed, and funds will be distributed based on available budget and alignment with our parish mission.

Thank you for your continued dedication and service!

Faith Formation:

Catholic Funeral Mass Planning Workshop Invitation

Our parish invites you to join us for a thoughtful and faith-filled workshop on Catholic Funeral Planning.

This is a meaningful opportunity to reflect on and make personal decisions about your Funeral Mass. You will learn more about selecting readings, choosing music that speaks to your faith, and considering the elements that can bring comfort and hope to your loved ones.

Father Bill, Betsy Taylor, and Irene Jones will guide us through the choices that you or your family may be asked to make, offering insight into the beauty and traditions of the Church’s funeral rites.

Please note, this workshop is purely informational and pastoral in nature; it is not a legal presentation or a sales event.

Come, take some time to prepare with peace of mind and a deeper understanding of our Catholic traditions.

All are welcome.

Two Adult OCIA processes for 2026-27

After the success of last year’s Jubilee Pilgrimage to The Grotto, we are planning another pilgrimage this summer to Mount Angel Abbey.

This is a wonderful opportunity to step away from the daily distractions of life and focus on solitude, peace, and prayer. Or to just enjoy some personal time from the hustle and bustle of life.

Family and friends are welcome.

The Beatitudes: God’s Roadmap to Everlasting Joy

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

To hunger and thirst for righteousness is to have a deep desire for holiness and justice, striving to do God’s will. It means seeking God’s truth and grace wholeheartedly, as nothing is more fulfilling than living according to His plan. This is exemplified in dedicating our lives to knowing, loving, and serving God, constantly seeking to deepen our relationship with Him.

There are two meaningful ways to give to our school:

Endowment Fund – Contribute to our new endowment, blessed with matching gifts of up to $65,000, helping secure the future of Catholic education for generations to come. Your gift to the Endowment helps support the corpus of education. The income earned will help Resurrection School offer more tuition assistance, as well as do necessary improvements throughout the years. This is an investment that will support our school for years to come.

School Support – Your gift directly extends tuition assistance, opening our doors wider to families in need.

QCD

A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) allows individuals who meet the age requirements old or older to donate up to one or more charities directly from a taxable IRA instead of taking their required minimum distributions.

RMD

Required minimum distributions (RMDs) are the minimum amounts you must withdraw from your retirement accounts each year. You generally must start taking withdrawals from your traditional IRA, SEP IRA, SIMPLE IRA, and retirement plan accounts when you meet the age requirements. Changes in deduction rules and limitations will impact how much you can deduct for donations.

Meeting the age requirements, you may qualify to take annual distributions from your retirement account to make tax free donations to charities of your choice.

Resurrection Church is a qualified public charity 501(c)(3) and can receive your QCD.

Contact your financial advisor for updated and relevant tax advise.

Will, Living Trust & Estate Planning
