Hello Business,

This week is the twenty-eight Sunday of Ordinary Times, a week in which we are encouraged to remain vigilant against seeking security in the accumulation of possessions and to detach ourselves from earthly ownership of things. The pursuit of material items and consumerism promises happiness and yet eventually leaves us empty, with the need to fill that void with more things.

What we should seek is wisdom, which is held above all possessions and any worldly gains.

The key to seeking eternal life is to follow the commandments and to follow Him without reservations, to be faithful and to trust in God’s guidance in our journey. Thus, we achieve what we believe impossible:, to pass through the eye of the needle.

Dear Don,

A big, big thanks to you, Lynn, Susan, Diana, and your staff at Resurrection Catholic Church. Without your loyalty and support, we would not be able to continuously provide hospitals with the life-saving blood for patients in need.  You, your dedicated volunteers and your amazing donors make our mission to help save lives possible and we are truly grateful to you all.  By hosting blood drives you are also helping us provide services to our Red Cross Humanitarian Services such as those happening right now in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

As always, the space was wonderful and hospitality the best. Please extend our thanks to Lynn, Susan and Diana.

Here are the results:

  • 22 donors presented
  • 3 first time donor (thank you for finding additional newbies – you always do a terrific job for us)
  • 5 deferrals and 2 incompletes
  • Collected 13 units/pints of whole blood and 2 Power Red (which count as 2 each) for a total of 17 units collected.

These 17 units will help immensely with ensuring we have enough blood for all patients in need.

Save the date for Red Cross Donations at Resurrection Catholic Parish for 2025:

The next meeting of St. Vincent de Paul is on Sunday, October 13th in the Fireside Room after the 8:30 Mass. Come find out what we are all about!

SAVE THE DATE FOR OUR SEMI-ANNUAL PANCAKE BREAKFAST.

The pancake breakfast will take place in Rossman Hall on Sunday, October 27th after both Masses. There is no cost to attend but donations of cash and/or non-perishable foods are appreciated. There will be Gluten Free and Dairy Free Options.

In September, we delivered to 13 families, 68 people and supported 19 households and 51 people with rent and utilities.

Thank you for all you do to support St. Vincent de Paul and and the families we serve.

We have two exciting new options for donating to the parish and a new opportunity for helping with credit card transaction fees.

WeShare has enabled people to make payments using PayPal for their scheduled donations.

Apple Pay is an option for the one-time payment donations.

WeShare is now providing the donor with the option to increase the donation amount to cover the credit card costs for any charges that are incurred through the transaction process. We thank you for all the help!

Resurrection Catholic Parish School News

Welcome! RCPS is ENROLLING NOW for Preschool 3s through 6th Grade! Learn more about our school here.

As enrollment grows, our mission is to offer the benefits of a Catholic Education to any family who would like their children to receive one, regardless of financial circumstances. When you make a gift to our parish school, it enables us to open our arms even wider and offer tuition assistance to more families in need. Make a financial gift to our school here by selecting "School Support."

WE DID IT!!!! A huge thank you to our Resurrection Family and Friends for helping us crush our goal of $25,000.

With 8 days to go, we'd like to issue another challenge. If (WHEN?!?) we hit $30,000 the whole school will enjoy the day before Thanksgiving off of school. That's right! No school on Wednesday, November 27th if we can raise $30,000+!!! We have attached the QR code to give to the Retriever Run.

Thanks to an anonymous donor who made a donation to every child who had not yet raised money, we can also say that we have reached 100% giving. What a great example of generosity! All of the students will be enjoying a Free Dress Day on Monday, October 21... And Mrs. Steele can't wait to debut her new red hair!

Community Resources

Although we trust in our Heavenly Father to help us through hard times, we still struggle along the way. Sometimes we need outside support. Below you will find local resources:

  • Domestic violence hotline: 1-800-799-7233 or website
  • Resource number for Clackamas county: 211

Your parish community cares for you

and we would like to say

THANK YOU

for being a part of our parish!

QCD

A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) allows individuals who are 70½ years old or older to donate up to $105,000 total to one or more charities directly from a taxable IRA instead of taking their required minimum distributions.

RMD

Required minimum distributions (RMDs) are the minimum amounts you must withdraw from your retirement accounts each year. You generally must start taking withdrawals from your traditional IRA, SEP IRA, SIMPLE IRA, and retirement plan accounts when you reach age 72.

If you are over 72 years of age you qualify to take annual distributions from your retirement account to make tax free donations to charities of your choice.

Resurrection Church is a qualified public charity 501(c)(3) and can receive your QCD.

We thank you in advance for considering Resurrection Catholic Church and School as recipients of your donations.

Will, Living Trust & Estate Planning

Include Resurrection Catholic Parish or School in your will, trust or estate planning. Your gift – no matter how big or small – ensures our church and school can continue all of the incredible work we do, and you will be making an impact in the lives of others for many years to come.
