Greetings!

The 5th Sunday of Lent draws us toward the Paschal Mystery—the promise that God brings life out of death. Jesus’ raising of Lazarus reveals His power over death and foreshadows His own Resurrection, offering us hope and new life.

The Paschal Mystery shows us that suffering and death are not the end. Through Jesus’ sacrifice and victory over death, we are offered hope and eternal life. These readings invite us to trust in Jesus as the resurrection and the life, reminding us that his love and saving power are always with us.

Lent calls us to return to God, let go of what holds us back, and trust that His Spirit renews our hearts. Martha’s faith and Jesus’ tears remind us that He meets us in our sorrow with compassion and strength.

As we approach Holy Week, we are invited to believe that Jesus is the resurrection and the life. Like Lazarus, we are called out of darkness into new life, trusting that God’s love is stronger than death.

Livestream the Mass on Sunday at 11:00am on our Facebook page.

Parish News & Events:

As we continue our journey through Lent, we will begin in the quiet reverence of the church, walking with Christ through the Stations of the Cross and entering more deeply into the mystery of His suffering, compassion, and love. Afterward, we will gather in Rossman Hall to share a simple soup supper with our fellow parishioners. With only two more soup supper remaining this season, we are grateful for the time we still have to come together in community. This evening is lovingly supported by our Women's Bible Study.

All are warmly welcomed to enter into prayer, reflection, and fellowship as we walk together through this sacred season. May this gathering enrich your 40‑day pilgrimage, draw your heart closer to Christ, and open your soul to the grace and renewal God desires for you during Lent.

We have added an extra week of Lenten Soup Supper!

This final gathering before Holy Week is a wonderful chance to come together as a parish family.

Instead of a hosting group, we’re inviting parishioners to sign up to bring a pot of soup—any kind you love—enough to share with about eight people. Your contribution will help make this a warm, welcoming evening of fellowship. Make this special night part of your Lenten journey.

We can’t wait to gather, share good food, and enjoy time together as a community.

Did you have a chance to listen to Fr. Bill’s interview

with Mater Dei Radio?

It’s a wonderful conversation and a beautiful overview of our parish community. If you haven’t heard it yet, no worries—just click the button below to enjoy the podcast at your convenience.

You’ll also find another link with a photo-filled overview of our parish. And while you’re there, feel free to download the Hail Mary app to stay connected and enrich your prayer life.

We welcome you to Friday Mass at 8:30am for Lent.

Attending daily Mass during Lent offers a beautiful way to deepen our spiritual life and draw closer to the Eucharist. In the quiet rhythm of these 40 days, we receive the grace and strength needed to face daily temptations and remain rooted in Christ. By gathering in prayer and worship each day, we open our hearts more fully to God’s will and allow Him to shape us. In this way, Lent becomes not just a season of sacrifice, but a transformative journey toward deeper union with Christ—the true purpose of our Lenten walk.

Purple Envelopes to Facilitate Almsgiving

Throughout our Lenten journey, Jesus is calling us to engage in the traditional practices of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. In order to facilitate almsgiving among the members of our faith community, the parish is providing "purple envelopes" which will be available in the pews during this holy season. I ask that each person take a purple envelope home. Reflect on what the Lord is calling you to give in support of the works of this parish. Then return the envelope and place it in the collection basket.

Thank you in advance for whatever you choose to give in accordance with the inspiration given you by the Holy Spirit.

The Knights of Columbus’ St. Patrick’s dinner

The Knights of Columbus’ St. Patrick’s dinner burst to life with festive cheer—guests savored hearty Irish fare, shared plenty of laughter, and dove into spirited rounds of bingo that kept the whole room buzzing.

It’s that time of year when Mary’s Cousins Prayer Shawl Ministry begins knitting and crocheting baby blankets for donation to local charities. We would be grateful for any donations of soft, acrylic baby yarn in pastel colors. Lion Brand Pound of Love can often be found at Michaels, frequently on sale or available with a coupon.

If you knit or crochet, please consider helping us create these warm blankets. If you’re interested in learning how to knit or crochet, or would simply enjoy some companionship while working on these projects, join us on Tuesdays from Noon to 2:00 PM in the Fireside Room.

Donations of supplies may be dropped off at the office during business hours. If you have any questions, please contact Laura Hamel at 503‑656‑2437.

Thank you for sharing your time, talents, and treasures.

Opportunities to Contribute:

QCD

A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) allows individuals who meet the age requirements old or older to donate up to one or more charities directly from a taxable IRA instead of taking their required minimum distributions.

RMD

Required minimum distributions (RMDs) are the minimum amounts you must withdraw from your retirement accounts each year. You generally must start taking withdrawals from your traditional IRA, SEP IRA, SIMPLE IRA, and retirement plan accounts when you meet the age requirements. Changes in deduction rules and limitations will impact how much you can deduct for donations.

Meeting the age requirements, you may qualify to take annual distributions from your retirement account to make tax free donations to charities of your choice.

Resurrection Church is a qualified public charity 501(c)(3) and can receive your QCD.

Contact your financial advisor for updated and relevant tax advise.
