Twenty-first Sunday After Pentecost
October 14, 2018

"We invite everyone to share communion around God's altar.
We strive to be a welcoming and relevant Christian community doing what matters through prayer, worship, teaching, outreach, fellowship, and service.

We will demonstrate the real life application of scripture, tradition, and
reason by providing a safe place to respond to each other's needs,
hurts, joys, and interests."

Introducing Our New Director of Youth Ministries:
Tracie Howell

Dear Resurrection,

Joe Cash, Michael Randall, Sophie Alexander, and I are pleased to announce that Tracie Howell is now our new Director of Youth Ministries for middle and high school youth.

We all are very excited about this new ministry for our parish family, and we are ready to get started. We plan to offer youth group meetings two Sundays a month after church beginning in November. Tracie, Sophie, and I have already met and began creating a schedule for the rest of the school year.

Your full support is critical to the quality and success of this new Christian program for our youth. We also need your input. We will have a parents and youth meeting Sunday, November 4th after the 10:30 service to begin this new ministry. This meeting will be a joint parent/youth meeting and will be an opportunity to meet Tracie and give her your support.

Please pray for this new ministry. We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Peace,
Father Scott +
Meet Tracie Howell
New Director of Youth Ministries

As my family and I took root in White County in 1996, little did I know God had big plans for me which did not co-exist with my well-thought- out career choice. In 1998, I was called to youth ministry and shared 16 wonderful years with many amazing children, youth and adults who taught me to be a better person each day.

My ministry with children and youth started with First Presbyterian Church of Cleveland, and then continued with 8 years at Cleveland United Methodist church. I wrote articles for the White County newspaper and served as an advisor for FCA with White County Schools. I attended Truett McConnell College studying the Baptist ways, and a year at Columbia Theological Seminary where I earned my Youth Ministry Certificate.  Yes, I consider myself a multi-denominational thinker.  All of this has made me very aware of the backgrounds many have experienced and helped me to be able to reach out to the lost and undecided young people trying to find their place in this world.

After going non-stop for so many years. I took a sabbatical and started a new journey working in Medicare and medical insurance. I was content with the normal routine of working a 9 to 5 job, but I felt a little unsettled and I knew that God had other plans for me.  Several phone calls came my way to return to youth ministry. I knew I was being called upon and was unsure at first where I would go. Once I talked to Father Scott, I knew it was time to take God's call and not let it roll to voicemail anymore.

I am looking forward to starting again and serving in this ministry chapter of my life with the youth of The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection.  I am so excited to see where God leads us all as a youth group and church family.

Feeling blessed,
Tracie Howell

This Sunday's Anthem:

Because He Lives
Gloria & William I. Gaither

God sent His son, they called Him Jesus;
He came to love, heal and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

How sweet to hold a newborn baby,
And feel the pride and joy he gives;
But greater still the calm assurance:
This child can face uncertain days because He Lives!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

And then one day, I'll cross the river,
I'll fight life's final war with pain;
And then, as death gives way to victory,
I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!
