Thirteenth Sunday After Pentecost
September 3, 2017

"We invite everyone to share communion around God's altar.
We strive to be a welcoming and relevant Christian community doing what matters through prayer, worship, teaching, outreach, fellowship, and service.
We will demonstrate the real life application of scripture, tradition, and
reason by providing a safe place to respond to each other's needs,
hurts, joys, and interests."

Pastoral Care Corner

Bob Kroll is having a heart oblation tomorrow.

Michelle Boyce  is recovering from back surgery.
Hans Schacht is in hospice care.

This Sunday's Anthem:
A solo by Mallory Nonnemaker

Day by Day
by Stephen Schwartz & John-Michael Tebelak
from the musical  Godspell
Day by day,
Dear Lord, of thee three things I pray:
To see thee more clearly,
Love thee more dearly,
Follow thee more nearly,
Day by day.

The song follows a prayer ascribed to the 13th-century English bishop  Saint Richard of Chichester :
May I know Thee more clearly,
                                    Love Thee more dearly,
                                  Follow Thee more nearly.

Hurricane Harvey Response Fund
If you haven't yet done so, please make a gift to Episcopal Relief & Development's Hurricane Harvey Response Fund. The flooding from this hurricane is at historic proportions. Communities in Southeast Texas, Louisiana, and in other Gulf areas are in need of immediate and long-term assistance. Please give today and be sure to share this request with your friends and family on social media. People affected by Hurricane Harvey  need our help and our prayers.

Our Prescool children are learning all about insects.  They were able to create their very own unique insect.

ONLY 2 SPOTS LEFT! I will be offering a new class beginning this fall called ACTS (Adult Christian Theological Study). The group will meet once a week for approximately 90 minutes (day and time yet to be determined) for the school calendar year, taking the same days and weeks off as the school calendar. This group will do an in-depth exploration of the Old & New Testaments, Church History, and Theology, coupled with an intimate small group supportive learning environment. This course will complete in three years, but participants are only asked to commit to one program year at a time.

The only costs will be for the text books, which will total less than $100 for all three years. There will be a weekend retreat in the fall or spring of the program year.

I hope that the outcome of this group will be to properly theologically educate individuals who can think theologically about today's challenges of loving God and neighbor.

The group is filling up, but I have two spots left.  The only requirements are that you seek Christian maturity, have an open mind for inquisitive learning, an open heart for mutual group peer support, and a willingness to regularly attend the agreed-upon meetings.

If you are interested in this new offering, please reply to me,
The 2017 Women's Retreat will be held at Camp Mikell October 20-22. The cost is $175, which includes all food, lodging and supplies.
The Very Reverend Mary Demmler has agreed to join us again to share some thoughtful and humorous stories and ideas.  There will be a sign-up sheet in the Narthex beginning this Sunday.  If you have any questions, please contact Linda Perry.

Bring your friends, sisters & daughters too and prepare to be blessed!

Our Presiding Bishop, The Most Reverend Michael Curry, will visit the Diocese of Atlanta, October 11 - 13.  As our Chief Evangelist, Bishop Curry will bring his passion for the Jesus Movement  to Atlanta. The events are open to the public.

With several big parish events happening and several more to come, it is time to stock the kitchen! Next time you are at the store, can you pick up an extra pack of kitchen paper products? Items needed are:
              • Coffee
              • Paper plates
              • Paper coffee cups
              • Paper bowls
              • Paper towels
              • Plastic cups
              • Plastic forks, knives, and spoons
Please - no  Styrofoam!
Are you ready for Boundless Love?

An Episcopal Revival led by our Presiding Bishop Michael Curry is coming to the Diocese of Georgia on September 17th.
