The Day of Pentecost
May 31, 2020

"We invite everyone to share communion around God's altar.
We strive to be a welcoming and relevant Christian community doing what matters through prayer, worship, teaching, outreach, fellowship, and service.

We will demonstrate the real life application of scripture, tradition, and
reason by providing a safe place to respond to each other's needs,
hurts, joys, and interests."

Pray for all of our sisters and brothers who are dealing with the challenging consequences of this pandemic.

Thank you for being grateful, responsible stewards of the gifts we receive from God.   What a blessing and honor to be stewards of what God has given to us!  Thank you for supporting our ministry and mission at Resurrection and allowing Resurrection members to be beacons of light in our parish and out in the community.  No matter what amount you give to Resurrection, your gift makes a difference in the ministry and mission we do. As part of your spiritual discipline, we hope you will make sure to joyfully make your offering so we can continue to shine our light in the parish and in our community.

Most Holy God, today we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit and the beginnings of the church. Help us to remember that we are the church, our flesh and blood and bones, not brick and stone and mortar. Help us remain the active part of your kingdom born of the work of Jesus. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

We pray for the church celebrating in every land and under every circumstance. We ask your continued blessings on our presiding bishop Michael Curry, our bishop Robert Wright, our assisting bishop Don Wimberly, our retired bishop Neil Alexander, and our priests Scott and Sue. Bless Brandon, Mallory, Fletcher and Finley as they prepare to move to Virginia Theological Seminary this summer. Keep us alert and active to the promptings of your Holy Spirit. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Almighty God, we pray for our president Donald, for the leaders of all nations, and for all in authority, that they may compassionately work for justice and peace.  Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

We pray for all members of our armed services, protect and defend our troops in deployments in combat zones. Pray for Reyna Cruz, Jamie Davey, Jordan Davey, Brett Turner, Jennifer Parrish, Bart Ziccardi, Robert Rish, Kayla Ziccardi, Frank Caruccio, Joseph Lorenz, Wayne Lovell, Jessica Stephens, Mitchell Stephens, Brandon Richards, Drew Camp, and Jason Gregoryk. Guide, guard, and protect all law enforcement and first responders, including Don Scalia. Please cover all health care workers with your blessings of protection and strength as they work to save lives, including Dr. William Koeppel, Marika Csatary, JM Kidd, Chloe Gedney, Jackie Hayes, Dr. Barbara Camp, Roxanne Hall, Susie Murray, Susan Smith, and Candler Kimsey. These brave people need our prayerful support. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Lord, God our healer, none of us ever dreamed that adhering to restrictive actions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 would lead to verbal abuse and sometimes even to violence. Our respect for our own lives as well as the lives of others is part of the healing work going on in hospitals today. Keep us steadfast and protect the sick, the lonely, and their caregivers that they will experience health and wholeness in your healing presence. Pray for Carol, Helen, Kelly, Bob, Lloyd, Stephen, Gil, Jennifer, Kevin, Jackie, Kelli, Luci, Sharon, Billy, Helen, Genny, Gordon, Jon, Opal, Glenda, Diane, Chris, David, Charlene, Scott, and Genie. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Most holy God, we pray for Hannah Kidd Kogel as she awaits the birth of her child. We pray for newborns, infants, and children of all ages. Protect them from every danger and sickness. Restore all children separated from their families. In this time shield all children with safety, love, and peace.  Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Compassionate God, comfort all who mourn for loved ones lost to sickness and accidents. As we recognize our own fragility, help us to realize and celebrate the sacredness of every life. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

God, the giver of all good things, thank you for the gift and blessing of your Holy Spirit. This week, and always, keep our eyes, ears, and hearts open to the comforting work of your Spirit. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Gracious God, we are joyful and thankful for these among us celebrating birthdays, including Ron Goodwin, Brayden Ledford, Patsy Kiessling, Katie Rose Ledford, and Mahalious Mitchell, and those celebrating anniversaries, including Chad & Katie Rose Ledford, Dennis & Sandy Bergin, and Lori & Berrong Kimsey. Bless their accomplishments and their plans. Give them joy as they celebrate these landmarks in their lives. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.
