The Second Sunday of Easter
April 19, 2020

"We invite everyone to share communion around God's altar.
We strive to be a welcoming and relevant Christian community doing what matters through prayer, worship, teaching, outreach, fellowship, and service.

We will demonstrate the real life application of scripture, tradition, and
reason by providing a safe place to respond to each other's needs,
hurts, joys, and interests."

Shining our Light:
2020 Annual Giving Campaign

Thank you for being grateful, responsible stewards of the gifts we receive from God.  What a blessing and honor to be stewards of what God has given to us!  Thank you for supporting our ministry and mission at Resurrection and allowing Resurrection members to be beacons of light in our parish and out in the community.  No matter what amount you pledge to Resurrection, your commitment makes a difference in the ministry and mission we do. As part of your spiritual discipline, we hope you will make sure to joyfully turn in your pledge so we can continue to shine our light in the parish and in our community.

Most Holy God, we open our common prayer with the petition that you will help us to stay close to our faith and to our claim to be true followers of Jesus Christ. Guide our words and actions so that they bear witness to our profession of this faith to the entire world. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

We pray for the whole church in every country. We ask your continued blessings on our presiding bishop Michael Curry, our bishop Robert Wright, our assisting bishop Don Wimberly, our retired bishop Neil Alexander, and our priests Scott and Sue. Bless Brandon, Mallory, Fletcher and Finley as they prepare to move to Virginia Theological Seminary this summer. Keep every member of our parish family and all of our brothers and sisters who, this day, throughout the world continue rejoicing in the victory of our Lord and Savior. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Almighty God, we pray for our president Donald, for the leaders of the nations, and for all in authority, that they may compassionately work for justice and peace.  Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

We pray for all members of our armed services, protect and defend our troops in deployments in combat zones. Lift the hearts of those whose deployments are lengthened by the corona virus. Give them joy as they anticipate reunions with family and loved ones. Pray for Reyna Cruz, Jamie Davey, Brett Turner, Jennifer Parrish, Bart Ziccardi, Robert Rish, Kayla Ziccardi, Frank Caruccio, Joseph Lorenz, Wayne Lovell, Jessica Stephens, Mitchell Stephens, Brandon Richards, Drew Camp, and Jason Gregoryk. Guide, guard and protect all law enforcement and first responders including Don Scalia. We pray for all medical and health providers, and all who are involved in the health and medical in profession including Dr. William Koeppel, Marika Csatary, JM Kidd, Chloe Gedney, Jackie Hayes, Dr. Barbara Camp, Roxanne Hall, Susie Murray, and Candler Kimsey. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Lord, God our healer, guide us in love to act wisely to prevent spread of any illness. We pray that the lonely, depressed and sick will find health and wholeness in your healing presence.  Pray for Carol, Helen, Kelly, Bob, Lloyd, Michael, Stephen, Gil, Jennifer, Kevin, Bette, Kevin, Jackie, Kelli, Luci, Elizabeth, Jack, Sharon, Billy, Helen, Bruce, Genny, Dottie, Taylor, Jon, Opal, Glenda, Sean, Christina, Diane, John, Mel, Chris, Ava and Thelma. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Most holy God, we pray for newborns, infants and children of all ages. Protect them from every danger and sickness. Restore all children separated from their families. Shield all children with safety, love and peace. And give all parents extra grace in these challenging times. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Compassionate God, comfort all who mourn for loved ones lost to sickness and accidents. As we recognize our own fragility, help us to realize and celebrate the sacredness of every life. Pray for all who are dying from coronavirus and all diseases. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Holy God, once again your protection kept most of us safe during the weekend storms and now the whole of creation seems to be celebrating Jesus. This week help us to turn our eyes to him and to all the blessings of love, safety and beauty surrounding us and to be grateful. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Gracious God, we are joyful and thankful for these among us celebrating birthdays, including Larry Holbrook, Mark Dieffenbacher, Bryce Boman, David Boman, and Katelyn Boman, and anniversaries, including Mike & Valarie Dye. Bless their accomplishments and their plans. Give them joy as they celebrate these landmarks in their lives. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.
The Invisible Cure
By Charles Ernst

We cannot always see
Those things which cause such pain.
The cruel creations
Of humanity and life

It is our constant companion.
Inside and out.
We Live and die together.
Always wondering why.

Who is to blame?
Some thing, some one?
A cry for help.
A call for a cure.

We experiment,
We study,
We try,
We heal.

Then We remember and witness,
Those moments...
The care, the kindness, the love

A doctor, A nurse, A friend.
A family that is there to the end.

Humanity 'Can' be humane.
People 'Can' help ease the pain,
Of these cruel creations....
Together

God created us with love.
Love dwells in our spirit,
In our actions,
In our thoughts and prayers

We have a stockpile
Of Love.
To share, To heal....
Our family, our friend, the world

Love is the vaccine,
The life line,
The invisible cure

They're Back!
I took this picture on the last Sunday of Epiphany when we put away our Alleluia's for Lent. Who could have known some 40 days ago that we would be singing our Alleluias out in the world the way we are today? May God lead us into the world transformed, singing the new Alleluias that the world needs to hear this Easter! Alleluia! Christ is risen! Scott+
