The Fourth Sunday of Easter
May 3, 2020
"We invite everyone to share communion around God's altar.
We strive to be a welcoming and relevant Christian community doing what matters through prayer, worship, teaching, outreach, fellowship, and service.
We will demonstrate the real life application of scripture, tradition, and
reason by providing a safe place to respond to each other's needs,
hurts, joys, and interests."

Our sincere condolences to the family of Michael Randall, who passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2020, after a long-fought battle with cancer.
Please keep Hilary and their sons, Hudson, Hayden, and Hunter, in your prayers. Because of COVID-19, a memorial service will be planned for a later date.
O God of grace and glory, we remember before you this day our brother, Michael. We thank you for giving him to us, his family and friends, to know and to love as a companion on our earthly pilgrimage. In your boundless compassion, console us who mourn. Give us faith to see in death the gate of eternal life, so that in quiet confidence, we may continue our course on earth, until, by your call, we are reunited with those who have gone before; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Thank you for being grateful, responsible stewards of the gifts we receive from God.
What a blessing and honor to be stewards of what God has given to us!
Thank you for supporting our ministry and mission at Resurrection and allowing Resurrection members to be beacons of light in our parish and out in the community. No matter what amount you give to Resurrection, your gift makes a difference in the ministry and mission we do. As part of your spiritual discipline, we hope you will make sure to joyfully make your offering so we can continue to shine our light in the parish and in our community.
Thank you for being a blessing!

Most Holy God, in the growing frustration and confusion of this time many voices speak to us and challenge us. Help us to follow you in the way of love. Help us to stay the course and use our time to draw ever nearer to you. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.
We pray for the church celebrating in every land and under every circumstance. We ask your continuing blessings on our presiding bishop Michael Curry, our bishop Robert Wright, our assisting bishop Don Wimberly, our retired bishop Neil, and our priests Scott and Sue. Bless Brandon, Mallory, Fletcher and Finley as they prepare to move to Virginia Theological Seminary this summer. Keep every member of our parish family and all of our brothers and sisters in continuing health and safety. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.
Almighty God, we pray for our president Donald, for the leaders of the nations, and for all in authority, that they may compassionately work for justice and peace. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.
We pray for all members of our armed services, protect and defend our troops in deployments in combat zones. Pray for Reyna Cruz, Jamie Davey, Brett Turner, Jennifer Parrish, Bart Ziccardi, Robert Rish, Kayla Ziccardi, Frank Caruccio, Joseph Lorenz, Wayne Lovell, Jessica Stephens, Mitchell Stephens, Brandon Richards, Drew Camp, and Jason Gregoryk. Guide, guard and protect all law enforcement and first responders including Don Scalia. Please cover all health care workers with your blessings of protection and strength as they work to save lives including Dr. William Koeppel, Marika Csatary, JM Kidd, Chloe Gedney, Jackie Hayes, Dr. Barbara Camp, Roxanne Hall, Susie Murray, Susan Smith, and Candler Kimsey. These brave people need our prayerful support. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.
We pray that the lonely, depressed and sick will find health and wholeness in your healing presence. Pray for Carol, Helen, Kelly, Bob, Lloyd, Stephen, Gil, Jennifer, Kevin, Jackie, Kelli, Luci, Elizabeth, Jack, Sharon, Billy, Helen, Genny, Gordon, Jon, Opal, Glenda, Diane, Chris, David, Thelma, Charlene, Dennis, Lottie, and Doug. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.
Most holy God, we pray for newborns, infants, and children of all ages. Protect them from every danger and sickness. Restore all children separated from their families. Shield all children with safety, love and peace. And give all parents extra grace in these challenging times. Pray for pregnant mothers including Hannah Kidd Kogel. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.
Compassionate God comfort all who mourn for loved ones lost to sickness and accidents. As we recognize our own fragility help us to realize and celebrate the sacredness of every life. Pray for Michael Randall and all victims of the COVID19 and all who mourn. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.
O God our shepherd, help us this week to recognize all the blessings surrounding us at this time. In you, there are no greener pastures, and we have Jesus who wants to lead us and protect us if we will hear him and let him lead us. We so want to run ahead. But only when He opens the gate for us will we be truly safe. Keep us grateful and obedient. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.
Gracious God, we are joyful and thankful for these among us celebrating birthdays including Marika Csatary, Karson Kimsey, Christy Vandiver, Cathy Parrish; and anniversaries including Gil & Hope Pollitt, and The Rev. Stephen Hall on the 39th anniversary of his ordination. Bless their accomplishments and their plans. Give them joy as they celebrate these landmarks in their lives. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.
