Tenth Sunday After Pentecost
"We invite everyone to share communion around God's altar.
We strive to be a welcoming and relevant Christian community doing what matters through prayer, worship, teaching, outreach, fellowship, and service.
We will demonstrate the real life application of scripture, tradition, and
reason by providing a safe place to respond to each other's needs,
hurts, joys, and interests."

New Christian Formation Offering
Using Skye Jethani's book
What's Wrong With Religion? (not a prerequisite to purchase or read along) as a
clear, lucid, accessible guide to barriers that obstruct people's faith, we will be exploring common thoughts on what's wrong with religion and what's right with faith. Whatever your convictions about religion might be, if you are interested in ultimate questions, come at 9:30 a.m. on the following dates:
9/10: Everyone is Religious
9/17: How Religion Ruins the World
9/24: Getting Rid of Religion Doesn't Help
10/8: God Doesn't Exist To Be Used
10/15: ...& Neither Do You
10/22: THE SOLUTION: Living WITH God
10/29: The "Radical" Life Isn't What You Think
11/12: The World Is A Perfectly Safe Place (Really)
11/19: All You Need Is Love
If you have any questions, please contact
Joe Cash.

There will be an informational meeting this Sunday at 9:30 a.m. for a new theology class I will be offering beginning this fall called ACTS (Adult Christian Theological Study). The group will meet once a week for approximately 90 minutes (day and time yet to be determined) for the school calendar year, taking the same days and weeks off as the school calendar. This group will do an in-depth exploration of the Old & New Testaments, Church History, and Theology, coupled with an intimate small group supportive learning environment. This course will complete in three years, but participants are only asked to commit to one program year at a time.
The only costs will be for the text books, which will total less than $100 for all three years. There will be a weekend retreat in the fall or spring of the program year.
I hope that the outcome of this group will be to properly theologically educate individuals who can think theologically about today's challenges of loving God and neighbor.
The group is filling up, but I have a few spots left.
The only requirements are that you seek Christian maturity, have an open mind for inquisitive learning, an open heart for mutual group peer support, and a willingness to regularly attend the agreed-upon meetings.

World Relief Refugee Resettlement Program
Resurrection has formed a partnership with Nacoochee Presbyterian
Church and Grace-Calvary Episcopal Church
to gather items that are needed
by World Relief to
help settle refugee families in the Metro Atlanta area. During the month of August, the three churches will be soliciting donations for the World Relief Refugee Resettlement Program. A storage space will be rented to store the donated items until they can be transported to the World Relief warehouse.
A list of needed items has been posted on the bulletin board in the hallway to the left of the narthex. Please take a copy with you.
After church
each Sunday in August, a volunteer will be onsite at each church from 12:00 until 1:30 to accept donations of new and gently used household items and small items of furniture (e.g., lamps, dining room chairs). You can drop off donated items at any of the three churches.
On Saturday
August 12th and 26th, between 10:00 and 2:00, volunteers will be at the storage facility (location TBD) to collect larger items. Smaller furniture items and household goods will also be accepted on these dates. If possible, please bring donated furniture on these dates. If you cannot transport the furniture or household items yourself, contact Jan Kay at (770) 371-4570 or
[email protected], and arrangements will be made to have a volunteer pick up the items.
We are seeking volunteers for this endeavor, so please let Jan Kay know if you can assist. We will definitely need some help on August 12th and 26th.

Schedule for August:

Crosses Needed
We are collecting crosses to make an arrangement in the parish hall. The ones in this picture were made by Harold Riley using some of the wood out of Morris Braswell's shop. If you would like to donate a cross to be used in the arrangement, please bring it to church and put it on the table in the parish hall. We would like a variety of sizes and an assortment of materials; they do not have to be made of wood. If you have any questions, please contact Denise Dorsey at 706-969-0514 or
