Easter Sunday
April 12, 2020

"We invite everyone to share communion around God's altar.
We strive to be a welcoming and relevant Christian community doing what matters through prayer, worship, teaching, outreach, fellowship, and service.

We will demonstrate the real life application of scripture, tradition, and
reason by providing a safe place to respond to each other's needs,
hurts, joys, and interests."

Shining our Light:
2020 Annual Giving Campaign

Thank you for being grateful, responsible stewards of the gifts we receive from God.  What a blessing and honor to be stewards of what God has given to us!  Thank you for supporting our ministry and mission at Resurrection and allowing Resurrection members to be beacons of light in our parish and out in the community.  No matter what amount you pledge to Resurrection, your commitment makes a difference in the ministry and mission we do. As part of your spiritual discipline, we hope you will make sure to joyfully turn in your pledge so we can continue to shine our light in the parish and in our community.

New Director of Youth Ministry
Bailey White

Christy Harris is stepping down as our youth director. A big Resurrection "thank you" to her for taking on the youth position when we need it and loving our young folks so well. Christy wants to remain involved with our youth. Thank you Christy - we love you!

Bailey White will now organize the youth, particularly during this time of isolation. Bailey is a student at Piedmont College and is currently staying with family in Tennessee during this pandemic. Please give Bailey your support as he takes on this ministry. Thank you Bailey!

Prayers of the People
By: Patti Petit
April 12, 2020

Most Holy God, in this very different time, we can and must keep on singing because Jesus by his sacrificial death opened for us the way to life everlasting. Today is his resurrection day. We sing for that and for our own adoption, Alleluia! Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

We pray for the whole church in every country. We ask your continuing blessings on our presiding bishop Michael Curry, our bishop Robert Wright, our assisting bishop Don Wimberly, our retired bishop Neil, and our priests Scott and Sue. Bless Brandon, Mallory, Fletcher and Finley as they prepare to move to Virginia Theological Seminary. Keep every member of our parish family and all of our brothers and sisters throughout the world in health and peace, joined by prayers as we walk the long journey to Calvary. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Almighty God, we pray for our president Donald, for the leaders of the nations, and for all in authority, that they may compassionately work for justice and peace.  Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

We pray for all members of our armed services, protect and defend our troops in deployments in combat zones. Lift the hearts of those whose deployments are lengthened by the corona virus. Give them joy as they anticipate reunions with family and loved ones. Pray for Reyna Cruz, Jamie Davey, Brett Turner, Jennifer Parrish, Bart Ziccardi, Robert Rish, Kayla Ziccardi, Frank Caruccio, Joseph Lorenz, Wayne Lovell, Jessica Stephens, Mitchell Stephens, Brandon Richards, Drew Camp, and Jason Gregoryk. Guide, guard and protect all law enforcement, first responders and all medical and health providers, and all who are involved in the health and medical in profession. Pray for Don Scalia, Dr. William Koeppel, Marika Csatary, JM Kidd, Chloe Gedney, Jackie Hayes, Dr. Barbara Camp, Roxanne Hall, Susie Murray, and Candler Kimsey. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Lord, God our healer, grant us wisdom to prevent our falling into the trap of fear in this time of pandemic. Guide us in love to act wisely to prevent spread of any illness. We pray that the lonely, depressed and sick will find health and wholeness in your healing presence. Pray for Carol, Helen, Kelly, Bob, Lloyd, Denise, Michael, Stephen, Gil, Jennifer, Kevin, Bette, Kevin, Jackie, Kelli, Luci, Elizabeth, Jack, Sharon, Billy, Helen, Bruce, Genny, Dottie, Taylor, Jon, Opal, Glenda, Sean, Christina, Diane, John, Mel, Chris, and Ava. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Most holy God, we pray for newborns, infants, and children of all ages. Protect them from every danger and sickness. Restore all children separated from their families. Shield all children with safety, love and peace. And give all parents extra grace in these challenging times. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Compassionate God comfort all who mourn for loved ones lost to sickness and accidents. As we recognize our own fragility help us to realize and celebrate the sacredness of every life. Pray for all who are dying from Corona Virus and all diseases. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Holy God, this week and every day we will celebrate Jesus and his Resurrection. Help us to rejoice in him. Help us see all the many ways that you have blessed us with great things and the small things that we so often ignore. Jesus gives us new life. Help us this week to joyfully embrace our new life with the joy of Christ in spite of the daily challenges and fears in our world today. Because He lives we live. Praise Him! Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Gracious God, we are joyful and thankful for these among us celebrating birthdays including Chuck Hampton, Lisa Stump, Sherry McCollum, Lyla Roberts, Rene McClatchey; and anniversaries including Art & Joanna Rees. Bless their accomplishments and their plans. Give them joy as they celebrate these landmarks in their lives. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Please consider signing up to pray for an hour Holy Saturday night.
