Sixteenth Sunday After Pentecost
"We invite everyone to share communion around God's altar.
We strive to be a welcoming and relevant Christian community doing what matters through prayer, worship, teaching, outreach, fellowship, and service.
We will demonstrate the real life application of scripture, tradition, and
reason by providing a safe place to respond to each other's needs,
hurts, joys, and interests."

This Sunday's Anthem:
Steal Away
A solo by Dolores Chandler
Refrain
Steal away, steal away, steal away to Jesus!
Steal away, steal away home,
I ain't got long to stay here.
My Lord, He calls me,
He calls me by the thunder;
The trumpet sounds within my soul,
I ain't got long to stay here.
Refrain
Green trees are bending,
Poor sinners stand a-trembling;
The trumpet sounds within my soul,
I ain't got long to stay here.
Refrain
My Lord, He calls me,
He calls me by the lightning;
The trumpet sounds within my soul,
I ain't got long to stay here.
The words and music were created by Wallace Willis, a slave who became a Choctaw freedman in the old Indian Territory of what is now Oklahoma. Alexander Reid, a minister at the Choctaw Boarding School, heard Willis singing the song in 1862 and transcribed the words and melody. He sent the music to the Jubilee Singers of Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee, who popularized the song to such an extent that it became a standard Gospel song found in the hymnals of many Protestant denominations.

This meeting will celebrate the success Family Promise has had since reinstating their program in June 2016 and outline the next steps that must be taken to sustain and enhance the Family Promise program in our community. The leadership behind Family Promis
e sincerely hopes that you will attend and encourage attendance from others in your congregation. Please plan on attending this meeting, as the plan and resources necessary to continue serving families will be shared in detail.
Together, we can all ensure that this crucial community resource remains in place to help families across White County and the surrounding area.
This meeting will be open to any interested persons. Thank you for supporting this program and making it possible to change the lives of families in crisis here in northeast Georgia. For more information about this meeting, please contact Shaun Sosebee at (706) 809-8787.
