The Sixth Sunday of Easter
May 17, 2020

"We invite everyone to share communion around God's altar.
We strive to be a welcoming and relevant Christian community doing what matters through prayer, worship, teaching, outreach, fellowship, and service.

We will demonstrate the real life application of scripture, tradition, and
reason by providing a safe place to respond to each other's needs,
hurts, joys, and interests."

Pastoral Care Corner

Doug Phillips remains in the ICU at NE GA Medical Center.

Thelma Rees, the mother of John Rees and mother-in-law to Bobbi Rees, died on Tuesday in Colorado from COVID-19.

Pray for all of our sisters and brothers who are dealing with the challenging consequences of this pandemic.

Thank you for being grateful, responsible stewards of the gifts we receive from God.   What a blessing and honor to be stewards of what God has given to us!  Thank you for supporting our ministry and mission at Resurrection and allowing Resurrection members to be beacons of light in our parish and out in the community.  No matter what amount you give to Resurrection, your gift makes a difference in the ministry and mission we do. As part of your spiritual discipline, we hope you will make sure to joyfully make your offering so we can continue to shine our light in the parish and in our community.

Most Holy God, like Jesus' apostles, we have had whatever we believed to be secure taken from us in a day. But our readings assure us that your love endures and keeps us protected if we follow the commands of Christ. Love is the key. Keep us in your love and the love we share especially with these for whom we pray. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

We pray for the church celebrating in every land and under every circumstance. We ask your continuing blessings on our presiding bishop Michael Curry, our bishop Robert Wright, our assisting bishop Don Wimberly, our retired bishop Neil Alexander, and our priests Scott and Sue. Bless Brandon, Mallory, Fletcher and Finley as they prepare to move to Virginia Theological Seminary this summer. We thank you for the service and activities of our young people. Bless and protect them. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Almighty God, we pray for our president Donald, for the leaders of the nations, and for all in authority, that they may compassionately work for justice and peace.  Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

We pray for all members of our armed services, protect and defend our troops in deployments in combat zones. Pray for Reyna Cruz, Jamie Davey, Jordan Davey, Brett Turner, Jennifer Parrish, Bart Ziccardi, Robert Rish, Kayla Ziccardi, Frank Caruccio, Joseph Lorenz, Wayne Lovell, Jessica Stephens, Mitchell Stephens, Brandon Richards, Drew Camp and Jason Gregoryk. Guide, guard and protect all law enforcement and first responders, including Don Scalia. Please cover all health care workers with your blessings of protection and strength as they work to save lives, including Dr. William Koeppel, Marika Csatary, JM Kidd, Chloe Gedney, Jackie Hayes, Dr. Barbara Camp, Roxanne Hall, Susie Murray, Susan Smith and Candler Kimsey. These brave people need our prayerful support. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

We pray that the lonely, depressed and sick will find health and wholeness in your healing presence. Pray for Carol, Helen, Kelly, Bob, Lloyd, Stephen, Gil, Jennifer, Kevin, Jackie, Kelli, Luci, Elizabeth, Sharon, Billy, Helen, Genny, Gordon, Jon, Opal, Glenda, Diane, Chris, David, Charlene, Dennis, Doug and Scott. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Most holy God, we pray for Hannah Kidd Kogel as she awaits the birth of her child. We pray for newborns, infants and children of all ages. Protect them from every danger and sickness. Restore all children separated from their families. In this time, shield all children with safety, love and peace.  Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Compassionate God, comfort all who mourn for loved ones lost to sickness and accidents. As we recognize our own fragility, help us to realize and celebrate the sacredness of every life. Pray for all victims of the COVID-19 virus, and all who mourn for them. Pray for Thelma Rees. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

O God our constant companion, this week many will venture out from the quarantine and lockdown, some with trepidation. In the past month, you have been speaking to and in all of our hearts. We may have heard but did not understand. The key is love. Your love will guide and protect us. Your love is the key. Help us to act as your love prompts us. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Gracious God, we are joyful and thankful for these among us celebrating birthdays, including Austin Cundiff, Alice Wydra, Eddie Jenkins, Joanna Moylan, Stephen Hall and Scott Kidd, and those celebrating anniversaries. Bless their accomplishments and their plans. Give them joy as they celebrate these landmarks in their lives. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.
