The Seventh Sunday of Easter
May 24, 2020

"We invite everyone to share communion around God's altar.
We strive to be a welcoming and relevant Christian community doing what matters through prayer, worship, teaching, outreach, fellowship, and service.

We will demonstrate the real life application of scripture, tradition, and
reason by providing a safe place to respond to each other's needs,
hurts, joys, and interests."

David Wilkins will have radiation therapy for prostate cancer next Thursday the 28th.

Doug Phillips died last Saturday. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private family internment in Resurrection's Memorial Garden is planned for this weekend, and a celebration of life memorial service will be planned at a later date.

Pray for all of our sisters and brothers who are dealing with the challenging consequences of this pandemic.

Our sincere condolences to the family of Doug Phillips, who passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2020.  Please keep Nancy and her family in your prayers.  Because of COVID-19, a memorial service will be planned for a later date.  Online Condolences link.

May God's perpetual light shine upon him.

O God, who by the glorious resurrection of your Son Jesus
Christ destroyed death, and brought life and immortality to
light: Grant that your servant Doug , being raised with Him, may
know the strength of His presence, and rejoice in His eternal
glory; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one
God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Thank you for being grateful, responsible stewards of the gifts we receive from God.   What a blessing and honor to be stewards of what God has given to us!  Thank you for supporting our ministry and mission at Resurrection and allowing Resurrection members to be beacons of light in our parish and out in the community.  No matter what amount you give to Resurrection, your gift makes a difference in the ministry and mission we do. As part of your spiritual discipline, we hope you will make sure to joyfully make your offering so we can continue to shine our light in the parish and in our community.

Most Holy God, the apostles obediently waited for "The Comforter, the gift they did not truly understand." Because of their obedience, today we can call on that same Comforter. Help us and these for whom we pray that we will always wait for the Comforter's guidance thus staying close to you and the path Jesus set for us. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

We pray for the church celebrating in every land and under every circumstance. We ask your continuing blessings on our presiding bishop Michael Curry, our bishop Robert Wright, our assisting bishop Don Wimberly, our retired bishop Neil Alexander, and our priests Scott and Sue. Bless Brandon, Mallory, Fletcher and Finley as they prepare to move to Virginia Theological Seminary this summer. We thank you for the service and activities of our young people. Bless and protect them. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Almighty God, we pray for our president Donald, for the leaders of the nations, and for all in authority, that they may compassionately work for justice and peace.  Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

We pray for all members of our armed services, protect and defend our troops in deployments in combat zones. Pray for Reyna Cruz, Jamie Davey, Jordan Davey, Brett Turner, Jennifer Parrish, Bart Ziccardi, Robert Rish, Kayla Ziccardi, Frank Caruccio, Joseph Lorenz, Wayne Lovell, Jessica Stephens, Mitchell Stephens, Brandon Richards, Drew Camp, and Jason Gregoryk. Guide, guard and protect all law enforcement and first responders including Don Scalia. Please cover all health care workers with your blessings of protection and strength as they work to save lives including Dr. William Koeppel, Marika Csatary, JM Kidd, Chloe Gedney, Jackie Hayes, Dr. Barbara Camp, Roxanne Hall, Susie Murray, Susan Smith, and Candler Kimsey. These brave people need our prayerful support. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Lord, God our healer, the Coronavirus remains in our midst, yet things are opening back up. Brave and weary healthcare workers and essential workers continue laying their lives on the line for us. We pray for them and for the sick, the lonely and their caregivers that they will experience health and wholeness in your healing presence. Pray for Carol, Helen, Kelly, Bob, Lloyd, Stephen, Gil, Jennifer, Kevin, Jackie, Kelli, Luci, Elizabeth, Sharon, Billy, Helen, Genny, Gordon, Jon, Opal, Glenda, Diane, Chris, David, Charlene, Dennis, and Scott. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Most holy God, we pray for Hannah Kidd Kogel as she awaits the birth of her child. We pray for newborns, infants, and children of all ages. Protect them from every danger and sickness. Restore all children separated from their families. In this time shield all children with safety, love and peace. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Compassionate God, comfort all who mourn for loved ones lost to sickness and accidents. As we recognize our own fragility, help us to realize and celebrate the sacredness of every life. Pray for Doug Phillips. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

God our constant companion, this week guide us in making choices that will keep us and our brothers and sisters safe and well. Remind us daily that no one else should suffer or be fearful because of our choices. The key to bringing us safely through these days is love. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Gracious God, we are joyful and thankful for those among us celebrating birthdays, including Don Parrish, Barbara Camp, Alaina Hardy, and Andrew Steele, and those celebrating anniversaries, including George & Colley Case, William & Erika Koeppel, and Collier & Nancy Cato. Bless their accomplishments and their plans. Give them joy as they celebrate these landmarks in their lives. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.
