The Second Sunday of Easter
April 26, 2020

"We invite everyone to share communion around God's altar.
We strive to be a welcoming and relevant Christian community doing what matters through prayer, worship, teaching, outreach, fellowship, and service.

We will demonstrate the real life application of scripture, tradition, and
reason by providing a safe place to respond to each other's needs,
hurts, joys, and interests."

Pastoral Care Corner

Michael Randall is now in hospice care.

Helen Greear is rehabilitating at The Oaks in Baldwin.

Pray for all of our sisters and brothers who are dealing with the challenging consequences of this pandemic.

Thank you for being grateful, responsible stewards of the gifts we receive from God.   What a blessing and honor to be stewards of what God has given to us!  Thank you for supporting our ministry and mission at Resurrection and allowing Resurrection members to be beacons of light in our parish and out in the community.  No matter what amount you give to Resurrection, your gift makes a difference in the ministry and mission we do. As part of your spiritual discipline, we hope you will make sure to joyfully make your offering so we can continue to shine our light in the parish and in our community.

Most Holy God, we have been called to a ministry of obedience, patience and love. Obedience requires us to stay in place to protect, not just ourselves, but others. In the practice of patience, we will discover a closer walk with you, a time to truly listen to your voice that speaks in our hearts. Lastly, because we cannot physically reach and touch one another, we must seek ways to reach out with real love through compassion. With your help, gracious Lord, we can do this. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

We pray for the church celebrating in every land and under every circumstance. We ask your continuing blessings on our presiding bishop Michael Curry, our bishop Robert Wright, our assisting bishop Don Wimberly, our retired bishop Neil Alexander, and our priests Scott and Sue. Bless Brandon, Mallory, Fletcher and Finley as they prepare to move to Virginia Theological Seminary this summer. Keep every member of our parish family and all of our brothers and sisters who, this day, throughout the world continue rejoicing in the victory of our Lord and Savior. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Almighty God, we pray for our president Donald, for the leaders of the nations, and for all in authority, that they may compassionately work for justice and peace.  Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

We pray for all members of our armed services, protect and defend our troops in deployments in combat zones. Lift the hearts of those whose deployments are lengthened by the coronavirus. Give them joy as they anticipate reunions with family and loved ones. Pray for Reyna Cruz, Jamie Davey, Brett Turner, Jennifer Parrish, Bart Ziccardi, Robert Rish, Kayla Ziccardi, Frank Caruccio, Joseph Lorenz, Wayne Lovell, Jessica Stephens, Mitchell Stephens, Brandon Richards, Drew Camp, and Jason Gregoryk. Guide, guard and protect all law enforcement and first responders, including Don Scalia. Please cover all health care workers with your blessings of protection and strength as they work to save lives, including Dr. William Koeppel, Marika Csatary, JM Kidd, Chloe Gedney, Jackie Hayes, Dr. Barbara Camp, Roxanne Hall, Susie Murray, and Candler Kimsey. These brave people need our prayerful support. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Lord, God our healer, guide us, in love, to act wisely to prevent spread of any illness. We pray that the lonely, depressed and sick will find health and wholeness in your healing presence. Pray for Carol, Helen, Kelly, Bob, Lloyd, Michael, Stephen, Gil, Jennifer, Kevin, Bette, Kevin, Jackie, Kelli, Luci, Elizabeth, Jack, Sharon, Billy, Helen, Bruce, Genny, Dottie, Taylor, Jon, Opal, Glenda, Sean, Christina, Diane, John, Mel, Chris, Ava, Thelma, Gordon and Ron. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Most holy God, we pray for newborns, infants, and children of all ages. Protect them from every danger and sickness. Restore all children separated from their families. Shield all children with safety, love and peace. And give all parents extra grace in these challenging times. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Compassionate God, comfort all who mourn for loved ones lost to sickness and accidents. As we recognize our own fragility, help us to realize and celebrate the sacredness of every life. Pray for all victims of COVID-19 and all who mourn. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Holy God, in the past month we have dealt with fear, horror at the spread of the virus and now restlessness as days stretch ahead with no end in sight. This week help us to consider your blessings and the promise that with Jesus in our hearts, we can do all things. Keep us mindful of those in need and want, grateful for your love and faithful to your call. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.

Gracious God, we are joyful and thankful for those among us celebrating birthdays, including Michelle Boyce, George Case, Helen Schlaefflin, Kelly Smith, Suzanne D'Abate, Patti Petit, and Lucy Alexander, and anniversaries, including Harold & Dolores Chandler. Bless their accomplishments and their plans. Give them joy as they celebrate these landmarks in their lives. Holy Lord, hear our prayer.
