"We invite everyone to share communion around God's altar.
We strive to be a welcoming and relevant Christian community doing what matters through prayer, worship, teaching, outreach, fellowship, and service.
We will demonstrate the real life application of scripture, tradition, and
reason by providing a safe place to respond to each other's needs,
hurts, joys, and interests."

COVENANTAL RESTORATION
: A Series on Faith and Race
Racism and oppression have a long and painful past and present; it is an open, aching human wound that reflects a fracture in our relationship with God. Understanding how it was promoted and is still alive and acting out in the construct of our beliefs and systems and structures is the beginning of caring for this wound.
In this series on faith and race, we pray God would bring you hope, renew your mind, enliven your spirit, and gift you with the virtues of the Divine's own heart. May God strengthen your stand, inspire your movement towards God's dream for humanity, and increase Kingdom square footage with each step you make in Love.

Syrian Refugee Family Sponsorship
At the November vestry meeting, your Resurrection leadership discussed and approved a proposal of partnering with our friends at Nacoochee Presbyterian Church to sponsor a Syrian refugee family through World Relief. At this month's Compassion meeting, the team members also endorsed creating such a partnership as a major outreach ministry focus for 2017. Grace-Calvary Episcopal Church in Clarkesville is now partnering with us as well. We feel strongly that this fits well with our ongoing Family Promise parish ministry, but it also aligns perfectly with our mission statement "to be a welcoming and relevant Christian community doing what matters."
We are excited about this unique opportunity to reach out through our love of Jesus to aid and assist one family of Syria's 11 million displaced peoples that are enduring a tragedy that none of us could ever imagine in our own lifetime. Most refugees have been in camps for five years and all have undergone extreme vetting.
This effort will require financial support. The Compassion team has designated an initial gift of $1,500 to begin, but it will require more to fulfill our 6 to 12-month commitment to this family. If you feel you can financially contribute to this parish project, please designate your gift.
In addition to the initial financial commitment, we ask that each of you to prayerfully consider how you can support this family as we move forward. In the coming weeks and months, we will need your prayers, we will need volunteers of various kinds and abilities to supporting this family, but most importantly, we need your support as we work together in providing an opportunity for a family to survive the destruction of their relatives, their homes, and their country.
Resurrection will host a 2.5-hour orientation and volunteer training by World Relief on Sunday, March 5th, at 4:00 p.m.
If you are interested in volunteering in this life-giving ministry, please contact me.
Peace,
Father Scott+
