Sixth Sunday After Epiphany
February 12, 2017

"We invite everyone to share communion around God's altar.
We strive to be a welcoming and relevant Christian community doing what matters through prayer, worship, teaching, outreach, fellowship, and service.

We will demonstrate the real life application of scripture, tradition, and
reason by providing a safe place to respond to each other's needs,
hurts, joys, and interests."

Our Deepest Sympathy . . .

. . . to the family of Morris Braswell, who passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017.

There will be a memorial service at Resurrection on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at 2:00 p.m., with a reception to greet the family immediately following at The Bridge Church.

O God of grace and glory, we remember before you this day our brother, Morris.  We thank you for giving him to us, his family and friends, to know and to love as a companion on our earthly pilgrimage.  In your boundless compassion, console us who mourn.  Give us faith to see in death the gate of eternal life, so that in quiet confidence we may continue our course on earth, until, by your call, we are reunited with those who have gone before; through Jesus Christ our Lord.   Amen .

This week's theme is "Love is Greater."  If you would like to review the material prior to Sunday's class, follow this link:   Love Is Greater.

           This Sunday's Anthem:

      A solo by Brandon Nonnemaker
"Give me a Clean Heart"
by Margaret Douroux

Give me a clean heart so I may serve you.
Lord, fix my heart so that I may be used by you.
For I'm not worthy of all these blessings.
Give me a clean heart and I'll follow you.
I'm not asking for the riches of the land.
I'm not asking for the proud to know my name.
Please give me, Lord, a clean heart,
that I may follow you.
Give me a clean heart, a clean heart
and I will follow you.
Sometimes I am up and sometimes I am down.
Sometimes I am almost level to the ground.
Please give me, Lord, a clean heart,
that I may follow you.
Give me a clean heart, a clean heart
and I will follow you.

As Ash Wednesday approaches, congregations participating in this solemn observance that signals the beginning of Lent will undoubtedly read from Psalm 51:9-12, upon which this hymn is based:

"Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit."
