Sixth Sunday After Epiphany
February 17, 2019
"We invite everyone to share communion around God's altar.
We strive to be a welcoming and relevant Christian community doing what matters through prayer, worship, teaching, outreach, fellowship, and service.
We will demonstrate the real life application of scripture, tradition, and
reason by providing a safe place to respond to each other's needs,
hurts, joys, and interests."

This Sunday's Anthem:
Blest are They
David Haas
1. Blest are they, the poor in spirit, theirs is the kingdom of God.
Blest are they, full of sorrow, they shall be consoled.
REFRAIN: Rejoice and be glad! Blessed are you, holy are you!
Rejoice and be glad! Yours is the kingdom of God!
2. Blest are they, the lowly ones, they shall inherit the earth.
Blest are they who hunger and thirst, they shall have their fill. (REFRAIN)
3. Blest are they who show mercy, mercy shall be theirs.
Blest are they, the pure of heart, they shall see God! (REFRAIN)
4. Blest are they who seek peace; they are the children of God.
Blest are they who suffer in faith, the glory of God is theirs. (REFRAIN)
5. Blest are you who suffer hate, all because of me.
Rejoice and be glad, yours is the kingdom; shine for all to see. (REFRAIN)
"Blest Are They" (1985) appears in recent Catholic and Protestant hymnals and is one of the composer's best-known songs. A paraphrase of the Beatitudes from Matthew 5:3-16, the hymn maintains the two-part structure of Scripture in each blessing in the stanzas-"Blest are they, the poor in spirit; theirs in the kingdom of God"-each of which is followed by an uplifting refrain, "Rejoice and be glad!"
