Outdoor and Environmental Education Fall Workshop
Rethinking the Boundaries of Classroom Spaces by Expanding Them Outdoors
Nassau BOCES and Western Suffolk BOCES invite Teachers, Department Chairs and School Administrators to join Outdoor and Environmental Education for a day full of workshops. A majority of the day will take place outdoors allowing participants to learn the importance of incorporating the outdoors into instruction and how to use the outdoors as an additional classroom.

Given recent events affecting the landscape of education, it is important to give students the opportunity to thrive as they study their world firsthand. Learning outdoors provides more than just academic lessons by incorporating learning that addresses the social emotional. The benefits are unlimited, generating a student’s curiosity, optimism, resilience and excitement for learning.
Topics covered during the breakout sessions:

  • How to utilize outdoor space at your school
  • How to incorporate the outdoors into your lessons
  • Team building in the virtual environment
