Dear Partners,
As a valued member of The National Alliance to Advance Adolescent and Got Transition community, I wanted you to be among the first to know that I will be retiring this year. 2026 marks the 20th year of the founding of The National Alliance to Advance Adolescent Health and the 20th year of my role as its Executive Director. It is the perfect time to transition the leadership of The National Alliance to Advanced Adolescent Health.
To ensure a strong transition, we have retained a search firm with extensive experience with non-profits working in the health and policy space. This firm, Kittleman & Associates, is working closely with our Board of Directors and plans to launch a search for a new Executive Director over the next few weeks.
It has been my greatest honor and privilege to work with and learn from all of you. My appreciation for the opportunities and experiences cannot be overstated. The partnerships we have formed with state and federal leaders, pediatric and adult clinicians and their professional organizations, funders, researchers, and especially with youth, young adults and families have made us what we are today. Going forward, the needs of adolescents and young adults and their families are becoming greater. This will require that as a community we advocate and work for what is best for our youth and young adults as they navigate new changes. How the country builds a system of care and coverage that maintains continuity is vital, especially for those with disabilities, and who are poor and from racial and ethnic backgrounds. I am confident that we will find a dynamic leader to grow with our amazing team the key work of The National Alliance and Got Transition.
I know from years of experience in health care transition that a successful transition to a new leader requires careful attention to planning and support from you as we welcome a new president of the National Alliance to Advance Adolescent Health.
With deep gratitude,
Peggy McManus
