"Sometimes I think the biggest challenge in talking about the church is telling ourselves the truth about it—acknowledging the scars, staring down the ugly bits, marveling at its resiliency, and believing that this flawed and magnificent body is enough, for now, to carry us through the world and into the arms of Christ."

Nate Note
We're less than a month away from the Young Adult Fall Retreat and I hope that you will join your peers for a relaxing weekend at Koinonia Retreat Center. Expect good food, good service projects, good workshops, and good company. If you have interest in leading a 30- or 60-minute workshop on the retreat, contact me, please.

Our congregation is working hard to invite people to experience Jesus and the ministries we do in the name of Jesus. There are several great events coming up you can invite friend s to, including the retreat, a Habitat for Humanity build, Pub Theology, and Trunk-or-Treat. How do you "live to invite"?

Congrats and thanks to Johann Gebauer for his powerful and touching letter to the editor in an issue of this week's Star Tribune newspaper. Your love for your son and your desire for a greater sense of empathy and desire for peace in the world is palpable and inspirational!

Regards,
Rev. Nate Melcher
