Dear Oxbridge Parents,
On May 26, we emailed a letter to the Oxbridge community sharing our intentions to return to campus on August 24. We are excited to come together again in the fall for our 2020-21 school year, which also marks the celebration of our ten-year anniversary. The Oxbridge Reopening Task Force has further developed our reopening plan since our last update. It expects to deliver a detailed final plan to the community in mid-July. We would like to provide you now with an overview of what we currently anticipate that plan will be.
When we open, students will return to an upgraded campus designed to protect students while still delivering our distinctive Oxbridge education. We plan to adhere to the CDC's updated reopening guidelines for schools, in concert with state and regional guidance, and we have either already scheduled or completed our facility analysis and upgrades. These include investments in UV light air disinfecting systems, plexiglass shields, touchless water bottle fillers, over 100 hand sanitizer dispensers, and classroom technology enhancements. We are finalizing detailed health and safety protocols and training for students, employees, and visitors on campus.
The Task Force has developed a set of reopening models (fully on-campus, hybrid, and virtual) that allow us to be responsive to both student needs and the course of the virus. We have the ability to switch rapidly from one model to another, depending on health and safety conditions. While subject to change, the model we anticipate for reopening in August 2020 has the following basic features:
  • The entire campus, including classrooms, will facilitate social distancing and up-to-date hygienic practices for students, employees, and visitors at all times.
  • In order for students to practice social distancing, on any given day a portion of the student body will be learning on campus and a portion will be learning online in a rotation system. Siblings will be assigned to the same days.
  • During their online days, students will participate in on-campus classes virtually with their on-campus classmates using new video conference systems installed in the classrooms.
  • We will preserve the block period schedule that is essential for our intensive discussion and group project-based teaching methods.
  • All student services will be available to students both on-campus and online, including learning support, counseling, math center, health and wellness center, writing and reading center, and IT support.
  • Certain days will be set aside for student support, classes, and activities that must be held on campus.
  • Students who are at risk, are sick, or do not yet want to return to a classroom environment may participate in online learning exclusively.
  • We will continue to provide transportation and dining.
  • The campus will undergo intensive cleaning once a week to supplement our enhanced daily regimen.
Our final reopening plan will contain extensive detail about academic schedules, student life activities, transportation, dining, athletics, health and safety procedures (click HERE for CDC guidelines), and other facets of school life. As we previously communicated, after you receive the reopening plan we will host a virtual town hall meeting to answer any questions before school starts.

We hope to get back to 100% on campus when conditions permit, and the system we have created allows us to adjust quickly. Our three models will remain dynamic, placing safety, well-being, and exceptional learning at the forefront of all our decisions. We are looking forward to a safe return in August and are confident that you will agree that we must #ProtectThePack.
Enjoy the rest of summer break. Most importantly, stay safe and healthy.
