Greetings Tougaloo Family,

As of today, Mississippi’s Coronavirus case positivity rate is 21.7%. This alarming rate has shifted Mississippi from 4 th place to 1 st place in the United States, a 41% increase in cases over a 14-day trend. Therefore, due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the State of Mississippi, Tougaloo College’s Administration and Student Government Association Executive Board have decided to delay the return of students to the campus.

The Division of Academic Affairs will be forging ahead with an adjusted academic calendar located on the College's website. Classes will begin virtually Thursday, August 6, 2020. While online learning will continue for some students for the duration of the Fall 2020 semester, in-class and hybrid instruction will commence Wednesday, September 9, 2020. Please be advised that courses with enrollment numbers of 15 or more will be required to meet online for the semester. Contact the Division of Academic Affairs at [email protected] if you have questions or concerns.

The change in move-in dates for all students are as follows:
·       August 30 th – SGA Leaders and Athletes
·       August 31 st – September 1 st – Incoming Freshmen and Transfer Students
·       September 5 th – September 6 th – Returning Students

Fees for room and board will be adjusted accordingly based on the updated move-in dates. All activities on the campus have been postponed and will resume the first week in September with the start of Welcome Week, September 3 rd through September 7 th .

Please know we are concerned about how our students will be affected by this delay. Contact the Division of Academic Affairs, if you have questions or concerns. Contact the Office of the Registrar at (601) 977-7764, if you are an international student. Contact the Division of Enrollment Management and Student Services at (601) 977-7813, if you experience any travel inconveniences or hardships such as non-refundable travel.
