We have had an ongoing quilters group at TUMC for at least 50 years!!! The group has used money earned from quilting projects to:
- Purchase new chairs for the quilting room
- Pay for half of the carpeting in the Upper Family Life Center
- Furnish the Oak Room (furniture and carpet)
- Contribute to Vacation Bible School
- Purchase hymnals
- Sponsor pizza served for the Lessie Bates Davis Children’s Home’s Christmas parties held at TUMC
Quilting is a beautiful craft. Our quilters work together each Tuesday morning at the church beginning at 9 am. For more information, contact Karen Segelken at 618-667-6474.

We found an amazing artifact in a church closet today- our framed Epworth League membership certificate from 1892! The League was a young adult association for individuals ages 18-25. Through community building, missions, and spiritual growth the League encouraged and cultivated Christ-centered character. It took its name from the English village of Epworth, the birthplace of John and Charles Wesley. In the musical “The Music Man” (set in 1912), one of the teenagers declined a date because “It’s Epworth League night.”

The Playhouse@Westport Plaza will present “Church Basement Ladies” July 21-Oct. 1. It’s a celebration of a Minnesota church basement kitchen and the women who work there. They handle a recording breaking Christmas dinner, the funeral of a dear friend, a Hawaiian Easter fundraiser, and a steaming hot July wedding. Watch a preview video at www.PlayhouseAtWestport.com. More information is found at www.churchbasementladiesonstage.com . The regular ticket price is $50, but groups of 10+ pay half price. Let Carolyn Catalano know if you are interested in being part of a church group that attends the show together to have fun AND save money.
