A new tradition, the Member Service Committee wants to give you a sweet send-off to summer with the annual Ice Cream Social.

FATHER’S DAY June 17th 2018
Would you like to share a little story about a person who was a father figure in your life? Or reflect on your own days of fatherhood? Or read one of our prayers or meditations selected for this day? We invite you to contribute to the Father’s Day service - our last worship of the church year (until InGathering on Sept 9th). Please write to worship leaders Nancy Austin ( or Sarah Witte ( We would like to hear from you by the end of Sunday 6/10 so that we can map out the service. Thank you!
Please note: This Sunday, June 10, will be the last Children's Chapel for this church year. All children and junior youth members are invited and encouraged to attend! June 17 will be an all ages Father's Day service followed by our Ice Cream Social.

Rev. Jennifer’s Farewell Party will take place service at the Nathanson’s home at 362 Lower Flying Point Road, Freeport, after church. For this potluck/barbecue, please bring:
  • a dish to share
  • lawn chairs or folding chairs
  • bathing suit and towel
  • your best wishes for Jennifer as she embarks on her next adventure
If it rains, we'll stay at First U and have fun indoors!
First U has been welcoming many talented musical acts into our acoustically superb Sanctuary - stop in on a Thursday or Friday night to experience live Music on Main in Yarmouth!
A Night of West African Drumming & Dance: June 15th at 7 pm
Join us for a night of West African drumming and dance as we feature four West African master drummers: Theo Marty from Ghana, Abou Sylla from Guinea, Seny Daffe from Guinea, and Namory Keita from Guinea. We're excited to have these artists here in Yarmouth. It's sure to be an upbeat evening that's not to be missed. Tickets are $15, under 10 free. All are welcome. 
What Time Is It? It's Clam Time!
Okay, not yet, but it IS time to sign up to volunteer at Clam Fest! This year's Clam Fest is July 20 - 22. New this Year: 1. First U will be only having one booth on the Town Green. 2. We'll be making Clam Fritters. 3. Sign-ups will ONLY happen online.

Pride Portland! Parade and Festival
Saturday, June 16, beginning at 11:00 am
You are invited to participate in the annual PRIDE PARADE in PORTLAND with MUUSAN - march with other UUs! Wear a yellow shirt if possible. Loving signs and rainbow flags are welcome! Meet at 11 am at First Parish UU Church downtown to line up. Parade starts at 12 pm in Monument Square. The Festival immediately follows the Parade.
Summer Sign-Ups Wanted: Preble Street Soup Kitchen
Tuesdays, July 7, August 4, & September 1
We need YOU to help out with dinner service at Preble Street. You will feel good about yourself if you take a few hours to volunteer. This can also be a great way introduce teenagers, aged 13 and older, to a rewarding service experience. The clients are appreciative and the Preble Street staff is highly organized and helpful at making us feel welcome and useful.  

The job means reporting for duty at 3:30 and staying till 6:30, following instructions from the Preble Street staff. You are encouraged to commit to the entire 3 hours, but there is some flexibility: arrival anytime before 4:15 is acceptable.

ADVANCE NOTICE OF GOOD NEWS Rev. Thandeka  is coming to First Parish in Portland, Maine with her  Love Beyond Belief™  congregational workshop program! October 26 - 28, 2018 .

All Maine UU ministers, worship leaders, and their congregations are invited to collaborate and participate in this inspiring and thought-provoking workshop. Rev. Thandeka will also present her  “Got Race?”  public lecture during her time here which deeply explores race, white privilege, and calls us to answer Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s question,  "Where do we go from here: Chaos or Community?"  We will be engaging with social justice partners in our communities as well for this important talk.  Express your interest to Jane Makela at if you would like to attend.

Pastoral Emergencies
If you are experiencing a crisis, including needing a hospital visit, please contact the church office or the Caring Connection Coordinator to be put in touch with our on-call minister this summer. Our interim minister, Rev. Frieda, will arrive August 1 and will take over pastoral care duties then.
