Message from Jude+

There is hope in the air as we see the new growth of spring beginning and witness the increase in vaccines, but that is tempered by the call to be mindful, continue safe practice, and to remember all those lost to this pandemic. It is a see-saw time of carrying the “both/and” of joy and caution. I imagine that you are experiencing this in one way or another, and I know some of you are experiencing the “both/and” of hope and despair. For those of us living with more hope these days, we must remember and pray for those among us who are suffering, lonely, and fearful, and we must pray for all those we don’t know suffering the same. Reading your reflections in the Lenten Devotional Booklet is one of the things helping me to do that! Thank you to all who shared of themselves in their reflections and thank you to all who are praying along with their fellow parishioners. This is a community that prays!

See below for information on the second session of the Lenten Series. There are two videos this week, one on the arrest of Jesus and the other on the character and motives of Judas (!!) Please join us on Wednesday, even if it would be your first time. All are welcome to the sessions, having watched the videos or not!

God bless you on this see-saw Lenten journey, praying as we go for ourselves and others.

Blessings,
Jude+, 310-375 4617 x225, cell 310-701-5966.

Dear St. Francis Family,

The Vestry enjoyed a lovely retreat with The Rev. Bob Honeychurch yesterday evening where we gained even more insight into our role in the transition process. One of the early steps in the process is the formation of the Profile Committee. The Profile Committee is tasked with creating an electronic document that is a “biography” of the parish, our history, our current ministry, our hopes for the future and the qualities we desire in our new Rector are included in this important publication. Slightly later, a Search Committee is formed, this smaller committee will receive names of applicants from the Diocese and prayerfully discern which candidates are the best fit for the parish and present a short list of names to the vestry. These committees are composed of a broad cross section of parish members. If you are interested in serving on either of these committees, please contact me directly by 3/16, so your name can be added to the list of parishioners being considered for this holy work. Once we have the committees organized, we will be commissioning them at a Sunday service so they may begin their work carried on our prayers.

I will write to you often with updates as we move through the time of discernment.

Peace,
Holly
Senior Warden
