It’s Love’s Time

Love is what we need. Isn’t that so? Where is this love that is so needed? Is it coming? When will it arrive? Or is it here? Is it within us? How much love is locked up inside of us? Is there enough to heal the world? Is love greater than hate, greater than circumstance, greater than abuse and lies?

Friends, It’s Love’s Time. It’s time we put love to the test. In these challenging times, what does our spirituality ask of us? This question and the questions above are the center of our exploration at Unity Church of the Mountains on Sunday morning, November 30. Join us. It’s Love’s Time.

Hopefully these images are worth several thousand words, because it would take that many to convey the enthusiasm, the excitement, and the genuine feeling of a family get together that we experienced Sunday. We had a packed house and no way to set up all of the tables before the service. But like a well oiled machine, everyone pitched in to set up the tables, put on fresh tablecloths and got the potluck line rolling. Kudos to General Karen Trostle and her second in command, Don Jones, aka "the table man." No merry band of elves could have accomplished this feat any better. Heartfelt thanks to all who pitched in to fill the serving tables with delectable food, from appetizers to desserts. And to all who stayed to clear tables, clean the entire sanctuary, then put it back into order for next Sunday's service. Our Unity Family ROCKS !!!

Every facial expression in these photos clearly show what a huge success he and Joanne have achieved with our Hiking and Adventure Club. Joanne has already announced the date and venue for the December 13th outing. The last hike of our inaugural year will take place at 10 AM at the Nottely Reservoir Trail. This will be a 2.6 mile hike with scenic lake views. More information will be given in the next newsletter.

Dec 6 - Holly Jolly Christmas - Mike Davis and the Unity Mountain Singers will be singing Christmas carols in the main lobby at the Blairsville/Union County Chamber of Commerce. Festivities start at 8 AM. Our time slot begins at 10:00 AM, immediately after the Brasstown Ringers.

Dec 11 - Cozy Christmas at Meeks Park - 4 PM. This is our annual gathering in the Conley pavilion -- the one with the big fireplace AND the rest rooms. Start thinking about friends and acquaintances who might enjoy this special outing and extend a personal invitation to them. The more the merrier!

Dec 13 - UCM Hiking & Adventure Club - 10 AM - Nottely Reservoir Trail. More information will be given in the next newsletter.

Dec 21 - Caroling at the Union County Nursing Home - 2 PM. Whether you're a member of the choir or not, please turn out for this very important event.

Dec 24 - Christmas Eve service - 4 PM

Jan 8 - Young Harris Wing House - Premier meeting of the Unity Men's Club. The time will be announced later.

PENNIES FROM HEAVEN - Your generous donations provide assistance for those occasional emergencies that sometimes befall our church family. You can place your cash contribution in a donation envelope, or write Pennies from Heaven on the memo line of your check. If you or someone you know needs help, please contact our Spiritual Leader, Mike Davis.



POSITIVE PATHWAYS - Our church family continues to support this worthy organization with donations of items needed to continue their community outreach. This month our Super Volunteer, Linda Beaver, asks that we donate prepackaged snacks. As the days grow shorter and the temperatures are dropping, they can always use personal items like blankets, warm coats and other gently used seasonal clothing.

IF YOU NEED HELP - Contact the Congregation Care Team by clicking on the blue link. Our team of volunteers is dedicated to helping our fellow congregants by providing services such as delivering meals during a time of recovery, or offering transportation for a local medical appointment. We also send out birthday and other greeting cards. WE CARE deeply for our church family, and we welcome you to join our church's Congregation Care Team.
