Looking Back at our Spiritual Leader

...When Hindsight really WAS 2020 !

These 3 photos were taken January 19, 2020, shortly after Mike Davis signed his employment contract with our Board of Trustees and about the same time his agreement was formally approved by Unity Worldwide Ministries. On the far left is Mike's wife, Paula, and seated just right of Paula is Bob Sleczkowski, recording the service with his cell phone camera and tripod. Lined up against the side wall are 7 members of the choir.

STRENGTH

As described by Charles Fillmore in his book, "The Twelve Powers of Man," the definition of strength as a spiritual power is: "The Power to endure and overcome challenges, embodying resilience and courage."

So it's not just a matter of brute strength, or how much weight you can lift, or how far you can run, or how much discipline and self control you can display to the world.

Without going into the entire background of how we designed and produced our 12 banners, I'll just say that this was the first banner that I designed in collaboration with Michele Fritz, a graphic designer and owner of "Print by the Yard ," who was recommended by the staff at Unity Worldwide Ministries back in November, 2021. Because of production and shipping time, we couldn't produce a banner in time for use in January, so the February banner was our very first one.

Michele is a gifted graphic designer and an absolute delight to work with. For me, creating the banners was truly a labor of love. For the February banner, I literally looked at hundreds of photos in at least five different stock photo sites. I searched by keywords, in this case starting with "strength." Frustrated and cursing myself for taking on what seemed to be an impossible task, I went back through websites and combed through photos that began to jumble together in my mind. And suddenly, this cute little feller popped up, and I said, "Thank you, God!"

What I was doing wrong was that I was looking at photos of strength as a "finished product"--an Atlas lookalike capable of holding up the world, a Wonder Man or Woman pushing a huge boulder up a hill. What I fell in love with was this cocky, "unfinished" young person who seemed to symbolize "Every Man." He glowed with youth. optimism and supreme confidence, and everything about him said, "I CAN." I can do anything, I can be anything that I want to be. So when I looked at this child-man, to me he represented the unlimited potential that is within each and every one of us.

How much strength did you have when you were his age? How much self-confidence did you have when you were his age? How much strength do you have now? You've heard this before: If you think you can, you can. If you think you can't, that is your truth. So why not use your God-given talents and focus your Mind, Body and Spirit on finding and fulfilling your Life's Purpose? It's never too late, if you truly believe that with God, all things are possible. ~ Suzi Henry

Mike Davis - "Ice Storm" Video

Because of the inclement weather last Sunday, Mike and Paula Davis created a simple service that was streamed live on facebook. He asked for feedback on his previous week's video, and he was wowed by a response from one of our Prayer Partners, Joy Rider. He shares her email in this link to his video:

Next he discussed a TV interview that a Savannah reporter conducted with Rev Dale Worley and Rabbi Robert Haas about the Interfaith "Peace Prevails" event they will cohost on Friday, Jan 30 at the Peace Pole outside the Unity of Savannah church. And last, Mike gives a brief synopsis of Rev Robin Volker's Sunday service, in which she will collaborate with Tiffany Martinez. And lest you think that Mike's video will last longer than one of his services, he actually packs all of this information into a video that lasts for 3 minutes 45 seconds. Check it out, then you will definitely enjoy the positive vibes in the video with Rev Worley and Rabbi Haas, which lasts for 4 minutes 27 seconds. Less than 10 minutes total, and you'll be glad you took the time to "Put a Little Love in Your Heart."

POSITIVE PATHWAYS - Our church family continues to support this worthy organization with donations of items needed to support their community outreach. With the challenging weather, there is always a need for blankets, warm coats and other new or gently used seasonal clothing. This month, they have requested paper towels and individually wrapped snacks. In addition, there is a full list of their ongoing needs on the bulletin board in the hallway.
