The family plans a Memorial Service in honor of both Boyd and Anabel Harris in the future.

Boyd met Anabel Ellis at Southwestern (University) in Georgetown, Texas. After graduation they married and were off to Dallas, Texas to attend Perkins School of Theology at SMU. Boyd and Anabel were truly a couple called together in service for Christ. Boyd was ordained a deacon and then an elder in the Southwest Texas Annual Conference (predecessor of the Rio Texas Conference). Together, Boyd and Anabel served over 40 years in ministry with local Methodist and United Methodist churches around south and central Texas. They retired to Kerrville, Texas where Boyd’s father Sid and his wife Dot Pimlot Harris owned the Harris Men’s Wear Store. Active even in retirement, Boyd and Anabel were faithful disciples of Jesus at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church - Kerrville. Their marriage was blessed in 72 years with three children, seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Boyd was the oldest of three children and the only son to Alma Arthur and Sidney Harris. Born in 1925 in the small community of Seymour, Texas, Boyd moved as a teenager when the family relocated to the Rio Grande Valley. He grew up as a tenant farmer graduating from San Benito High School. After his mother died, he stayed home to farm and help care for his two sisters, JoAnn and Sybil. He cared deeply for family, friends, and local church congregations. Boyd leaves a rich legacy of care and discipleship in and through his family. The family wishes to thank caregivers Rose C., Cami C., Leila Z. as well as Nurse Mary R. and the team from Hospice Austin. Also, thanks to the people of St. Paul's UMC - Kerrville, Hunt UMC, and Manchaca UMC for walking faithfully with us in the last few years of Boyd’s life.
