Your Summer Learning Adventure Awaits

The Summer Learning Challenge is back!


Visit your nearest SSF library for free books and activity logs throughout the summer for youth aged 18 and under. With each completed log, current SSF residents can enter for a chance to win San Francisco Giants tickets or a $1,000 college scholarship.


Check out our events for a summer of exploration and fun! We're hosting a variety of shows and performances at both SSF libraries!

Summer Learning Kick-off with Dos Bandoleros

Kick off the 2026 Summer Learning Challenge with a family friendly musical performance by Dos Bandoleros. Learn about all the special events happening this summer, see a live 3D printing demo, make a paper lei craft and much more.


All ages are encouraged to attend.


Refreshments will be provided.

Disco Dance Party with DJ Chico Chi

Celebrate the Summer Learning Challenge and Pride at our Disco Dance Party for kids and families!


Get ready to move and groove to the kid-friendly beats of DJ Chico Chi, strike a pose in our themed photo booth, and get your glow on under the Youth Library stars. Costumes and party outfits encouraged!


This program is recommended for children ages 0-11 and their families and caregivers.


This Summer Learning Challenge program is made possible through the support of Genentech and the South San Francisco Friends of the Library.

Puppet Show "Unearth a Story"

Dig into the joy of reading with Unearth a Story, a dinosaur puppet & magic show! Enjoy storytelling, puppets, and kid-involved magic! Children will be invited to help uncover “buried fossils,” meet lovable dinosaur puppets, and participate in magical reveals that support reading comprehension.

Pride at SSF Library
