A big welcome to students, staff and faculty - the 2023 fall semester is in full swing. New student orientation was successful in welcoming first year students, the first week was kicked off by a series of welcome back days, and the Clinic had its swearing-in ceremony for the 2023 fall semester participants.
We look forward to the new semester, and the UNM School of Law wishes you all a bright, robust and smooth year.

PLSI Judicial Clerkship Panel
The Pre-Law Summer Institute (PLSI) for American Indians and Alaska Natives is a two-month program that prepares American Indian and Alaska Native individuals for law school by simulating the first semester. The program increases the number of Native lawyers, judicial clerks, and judges. The PLSI Judicial Clerkship Program Panel was held this July, and several UNM School of Law graduates sat on the panel.
The panelists this year included Chief Justice Roshanna Toya, Isleta Pueblo Court of Appeals (PLSI 2016; UNM SOL 2019), Justice Raquel Montoya-Lewis, Washington Supreme Court (PLSI 1992, visiting professor at UNM SOL), Judge William C. Canby, Jr., US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, Alexander Mallory (PLSI 2016, Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Diane J. Humetewa), Kateri Eisenberg, Staff Attorney for the First Judicial District Court (PLSI 2018, UNM SOL 2021), and Cody Jeff, clerk for Judge Jane Yohalem (PLSI 2019, UNM SOL 2022).
A dinner was held and the UNM SOL Indian Law Faculty and local Indian law practitioners were invited. It was a wonderful event!
