The start of the season has been unseasonably cold in British Columbia this year. Many courses trying to grow themselves out of even minor winter injury have found themselves fighting an uphill battle. Even in the sunny Okanagan Valley I’ve found myself wearing gloves and pants to work at the start of June! As of this report, the weather forecast seems to be coming around but it’s still on the chilly side, but at least it’s not atmospheric rivers and mudslides!

CGSA Member Access & Tickets for the RBC Canadian Open
(A value of $240)
at St. George’s Golf & Country Club
from June 6th- 12th, 2022
All CGSA members will have complimentary access to the RBC Canadian Open from Monday, June 6th – Wednesday June 8th (for practice rounds). You must go through admissions and present your CGSA membership card and ID, and you’ll be granted access to the grounds. You can also attend on Thursday, June 9th and Sunday, June 12th.

100th Anniversary Celebrations |

There are a number of golf clubs in Canada that are celebrating their 100th anniversaries and CGSA will be highlighting these clubs, their celebrations and staff throughout the summer. The Thornhill Club is hosting a "virtual" Cross-Canada InterClub competition for 18 clubs that are also celebrating their centenary's. |

Aldo Bortolon, AGS, Superintendent, Lookout Point is celebrating their 100th anniversary this year. Aldo has been with the club for 48 years, 36 years as Superintendent. He plans to put in at least 50 years. |

Here's your opportunity as a CGSA member to nominate a distinguished Superintendent for the 2022 CGSA/Bayer Superintendent of the Year Award. The CGSA/Bayer Superintendent of the Year Award is one of CGSA’s most prestigious awards. The title is awarded to a superintendent who has been nominated by either a Provincial Golf Superintendent Association or by a CGSA member as a knowledgeable and competent member of the profession who has been distinguished in the practice of golf course management. The winner of this award is chosen by an anonymous committee of peers.
