Breaking Down Barriers Through Sports - Blizzard Foundation Partners with Special Olympics

The Blizzard Foundation has partnered with the Special Olympics of Minnesota to offer the first ever Unified Wiffle Ball Tournament Sunday, March 31st 9:30AM. The event will be held at Life Time Sport I Winter Park in Eden Prairie.

Ten teams from across the Twin Cities metro area will compete for the Wiffle Ball Championship. Teams will be made up of two athletes from the Special Olympics and two basebll players from a local high school. Access to the game is free of charge and open to the public. All Blizzard Foundation supporters are welcome and encouraged to stop by and cheer for their favorite team.

Support is also needed to pay for this event. Can you help by donating $1.33 for a wiffle ball, $5 for a bat, or maybe $6.33 for a wiffle ball and bat to help provide access to baseball for kids who normally don't have access to the game?

We are looking forward to using baseball as a means to break down barriers and build community on Sunday, March 31st. Visit our Wiffle Ball Donation Page to make this event come true!

24-Hour Ice Fishing  Extravaganza

Blizzard Foundation Intern, Cory Glieden, is embarking on what could possibly be the most exciting 24 hours in Blizzard Foundation history! Glieden will be hosting his very own one man ice fishing tournament on Lake Waconia - March 9th starting at 7AM.

All proceeds for this event will be used toward community service programming for the Blizzard Foundation during 2019.

Cory is looking for your pledge for every fish he can reel up during the 24 hours - his goal is to catch 100 fish during that time! The world will be able to count each fish he reels up as he will be streaming his extravaganza live via Twitter.

Whether you want to pledge $0.05 per fish or $25.00 per fish - every bite  counts!

High School Service Project Opportunities

Participating in volunteer work within the community often translates to future personal benefits like job skills, work experience, and developing a strong work ethic. In addition, service and o utreach to others builds empathy, self-confidence, and creates a general sense of well-being.

The Blizzard Foundation partners with organizations to provide baseball players with opportunities to give back to their local community. The Blizzard Foundation focuses on setting up community service events for high schools, associations, and club baseball teams across the state of Minnesota.

If you are interested in having your high school baseball team serve, the Blizzard Foundation would love to set something up. All you need to do is fill out the following request and a representative from the Blizzard Foundation will take care of the rest.
