Be Part of the MIRACLE!

Have you noticed how our church has worked this past year in miraculous ways? Have you noticed connections between members that strengthened over the Covid-19 pandemic that you never expected? Have you seen creativity emerge in ways you never thought possible? Have you seen the behind the scenes work that has carried our church through unthinkable times?

FCCWP is alive and well and is part of a MIRACLE! We are the church! Be part of the future of FCCWP! Our pledging this year is more important than ever and is a huge way we can lead our church into the future. Let's work together to be God's presence in our world!

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY AT FCCWP
All are welcome to join our Prayer Shawl Ministry. We knit and crochet prayer shawls to give to individuals who are in need of our warm prayers and hugs of compassion due to illness, death of a loved one, or other difficult circumstance happening in their lives. We also create and give baby shawls to infants when they are baptized at our church.

We have members who can help teach you how to knit and crochet if you are new to this craft. We also have yarn and shawl patterns to help get you started. Just bring your own needles or crochet hooks.

We meet on the 3rd Tuesday of the month from 5:00-6:30 p.m. in the church Parlor.

Wearing a mask is required inside the church.

Our meeting dates for this fall:
October 19, November 16, December 21.

Upcoming events: towards the end of October, we will gather at the church on a Saturday morning to paint a few “Little Free Libraries”. You may have seen a one of the many LFL’s around town, typically in neighborhoods. Sally McArthur is spear-heading an outreach project to get books in the hands of children who do not have access to them. Once the libraries are transformed into “Works of Art” by the Spirit Keepers Painting Artisans and Sally makes the arrangements for their new “home”, we will also help out by setting them up. For more information on LFL, check out the attached link:  https://littlefreelibrary.org/

Stay tuned for the painting date and more information about this outreach service project.

November will be here before we all know it and that means Thanksgiving Basket Brigade! Basket Brigade will take place on 11/20/21. Start looking for laundry baskets now, they may become real scarce as we get closer to basket building time! More details to follow…

ELIZABETH HOOKER BOOK CLUB OCTOBER 24
Plan now to join us for a discussion of Alka Joshi's best seller "The Henna Artist".

Vivid and compelling in its portrait of one woman’s struggle for fulfillment in a society pivoting between the traditional and the modern, The Henna Artist opens a door into a world that is at once lush and fascinating, stark and cruel. (Bookreads)

If you have suggestions for books for the group to read, please contact Amy Wareing (abwareing@gmail.com).

Gladdening Light 2022 Cancelled Due to Covid-19
Alas, the decision has yet again been made; the current state of the pandemic has forced our hand. We must now proceed to cancel GladdeningLight's Symposium scheduled for early next year.

Florida's numbers are not trending well enough for us to move ahead with confidence, our state won't allow proof-of-vaccination for admission, the space at Rollins College may prove challenging for appropriate social distancing, and winter temperatures will keep us indoors for three days running. Just months ago, the horizon looked so bright. Yet now, the forecast is not trending in the right direction, at least not enough to be confident to continue.

For those who have registered, refund checks in full are beginning to be processed by mail over the next month. We ask for your patience.

Questions? Call (407) 647-3963 or email me personally, randy@gladdeninglight.org. Beauty & blessings, dear friends on the journey ~ Randy Robertson and the Board of Trustees for Gladdening Light
