VELCO GMP B20-22 Mat Hauling
Multiple departments within Casella Construction recently worked together to move 4,376 timber mats for VELCO - over a period of just 8 days!

We moved mats from five locations, as far south as Ludlow to as far north as Enosburg, and dropped them all in Eden, VT.

Construction and Transportation worked as a team to get this job done 6 days ahead of schedule; the collaboration between the two divisions was key in the successful completion of this project.

A big thank you to the truck drivers, loader operators, and the guys on the ground for a job well done!

Congrats, Eric!
July Good Catch Winner of the Month!
Congratulations to Eric Diefendorf for winning the July Good Catch, Near Miss Award.

Eric recognized unsafe/faulty equipment when, walking past a set of torches, he noticed a flickering inside the acetylene tank top, coming from the valve. Eric shut off the tank and blew the flame out, removed the regulator from the tank, and inspected it thoroughly. A small leak was confirmed, and the tank was tagged out for repair.

Thank you Eric - great work!

Spotter Safety at Work
Tips for Spotting
Spotters are a critical element of site safety, as they provide guidance so people don’t get hurt and equipment doesn’t get damaged. A few key elements to remember are:

  • Never walk behind equipment and spot at the same time
  • Agree on hand signals prior to spotting activities
  • As the operator, stop any time you lose sight of the spotter
